Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I thought it was 5 minutes cool down and 15 minutes jump preparation. How are you getting this down to 18 minutes?
Colonia to Sag A* is less than 100 jumps with a 70ly jump range ship. Might be less if you use Neutron Highway. It's 'only' 100 minutes each way.
Time dilation, the difficult bit (apart from the maths) is accelerating the Fleet Carrier up near enough to light speed in normal space to get that 10% reduction.

I decided to take the Dolphin out for a spin today. I haven't flown it in ages. I set it up for casual exploration some time ago. Or so I thought.

Turns out I never installed a DSS! I didn't realize this until I jumped into my first system of the day to find 3 terraformable HMCs.

I had to return to the carrier and swap in a DSS from another ship.

It all worked out in the end, though.

Then I landed on this icy little moon to check for high-value bacterium. It was there, too :)

The Dolphin is so much fun to fly! ☺️

This is one of my alts, saying hello to some Umbrella Molluscs somewhere in the Colonia region.

Perhaps it is... it's just when I get to the carrier galmap, there always appears to be 3 minutes left to cooldown.
I've noticed it earlier, in fact the normal cooldown after carrier jump seems to be not 5, but around 3 mins and 23 or so secs - that's at least the timer you see if you get to Gal Map asap to req new jump. Whatever can be done with this info...

Indeed though as you're requesting a jump, it is either 15 mins normally, either more. I assume it's just related with the case of many cmdrs requesting jumps at this single moment. I. e. if you see 30 mins instead of 15, trying to req again isn't a bad idea, it may work (or not i assume again if something big happens).

In fact i was looking at my Dolphin last week, was fit for Exploration quite a while ago - and never used since then. I thought that it'd be great for those sightseeing missions - but, i hardly ever took any of them, just why to attach yourself to something, if you can go on your own.

I ended with installing 6 variable class passenger cabins. Maybe do some shorter range passenger missions for change. So little, actually, but you can take 6 missions with the ship. Even with low emissions PP a lot of energy remains unused too, and i added a long range wake scanner (those are a real big energy dumps), and went to some system in famine to scan wakes near food distribution center after. Not that fun, but still you just sit there, ships fly by and you scan their wakes from 8 or so kms. No need to move even.

After having enough of it i went to the passenger missions, and what i can say. I'm a little stuck with it. It's ineffective (e. g. if your after biotech conductors, i think trade or mining missions are much better), but somehow it's very relaxing. Dolphin is indeed a joy to fly, fast, maneuverable, agile + you can fly agressively close to the star while scooping and charge your FSD at the same time. So i'm still there, hauling ppl. I've kept DSS from my explorer build though, i use it to scan another Bubble ELW on my way, to mitigate the meager mats and creadits profits at least partially.

Agreed. It runs so cool I'm sure it could land on a star and you'd still need a warm coat :D

Plus, it can land on a sixpence.

I made my early bankroll on a Dolphin and later upgraded to Orca. Well I also wanted to take my dolphin for a fun periodically; but my OG getting kinda old and I left it in Ratraii, anyway, which, during rupee's visit, seemed the jewel of Colonia.

So I built a faster Millenium Dolphin II, for the xeno tours. I can't decide if I'm up to those; but the only time I dropped at a non human single source though, they were shooting at me, I never sighted them, and the scanner read a bunch of random crap, and I sped away, absconding to victory! HA take that, the thargoids! Excuse me. That was the dry run with no passengers ha ha

In short, Dolphin, Dolphin, Dolphin - and more Dolphin. IT'S GOOD!
