Uh, is it supposed to look that bad ?

Your close examples look much MUCH more natural than mine on that planet, but holy pepperoni, it looks absolutely awfull when you take a bit of altitude...
Yup. And when you find this on Deciat 1, Deciat 2, Deciat 3, Deciat 4, Deciat 5, Achenar 1, Achenar 2, Achenar 3... you realize it's not an outlier. It's the norm. The good-looking ones are the outliers.

I'd say its an outlier not the norm

(I'm recently taking a tour to search for pre-engineered stuff for my migrated xb commander, and this involves landing on tens of planets - i havent seen a single pixelated one, but then again, i haven't been in Deciat nor in Achenar for that - btw, are those systems handcrafted?)

I had no idea it was THAT common, i've landed on about a hundred planets since Odyssey came out and i've never seen an example as bad as i've shown, but Odyssey was different back then, maybe i'm lucky, i don't know, but i hope this gets fixed...
I don't remember this being an issue with Horizons, and they call this "improved planetary generation" uh.

Pick a planet, I'll show you the pattern on it.

That "pixelation" looks like loading for me. Always that when I just come to planet, then it "loads up" around to okish.
Make sure you don't watch YouTube, discord and any app based on chrome. For me, watching YouTube does that pixelation too.

Nip out here and show me, thanks...

Nah, that's pointless

As i said in the last 2 days i docked to about 120 random stations, probably half of them being planetary ones, and i have not noticed any issues while landing.
I'm not saying there are not specific circumstances where such terrain pixelation is happening, but that does not mean it's the norm - as a blanket statement regarding any and every planet in Odyssey.

OP also said they landed on hundred of planets and never seen it "as bad" as you mention it - so if it was the norm, it should be evident to everyone that is landing on more than 3 planets since, being the norm as you say, at least 1 if not 2 or even all 3 should be affected by it

The only thing you manage to show on the forums is your bias against Odyssey and FDev, and it seems you really enjoy this else you'd be spending your time with more entertaining activities

Less pixelation due to the close proximity, but honestly, rather bad : View attachment 323264
Frankly, your second batch of pictures still look good to me. In your aerial shots at varying distances your ship and SRV remain sharp and clear. Why do you need even more definition in the fine details of the landscape? Looking out of my window at the grass at 20-30m, I can't see individual blades of grass, but the patches I do see when standing out there are easier to see from here. This is the same effect the devs have incorporated in EDO. It mat not be perfectly done, but it's certainly good enough.

Take screens at ~200-300m. Some patterning will almost always be present, but it may or may not be very noticeable, depending on the contrast of the separate colors being dithered together.

Here is Deciat 1.

I don't see any pixelization at all. Off to do Deciat 2 now.
I bet you thought you were clever when you skipped all the screenshots between 2km and 180cm altitude. Let's fill the gap, shall we?

Here's where you came in:

I took my shots at game marked intervals. When I approached, when I first enter orbit, when it falls to glide and then on the ground. My screen is perfectly smooth all the way down with very few exceptions. I never see anything that looks as horrific as your screen shots.

I'm sorry you have issues, but they are clearly your issues, not the games.

And by the way, your post was predicted:

You will likely be 'fed' a screenie from one of the transition points... Where patterns of the ilk being described may be observed briefly, but long enough to hit the screenshot key to prove a 'point'...

I'm out in HP 36601 collecting materials for a while, but when I get back I'll just shoot a video on Deciat 1 going all the way down.
