Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I knew for sure that was the case in Horizons 3.8. So it still is in Odyssey and Horizons 4.0?
I would assume it is.

I checked in Odyssey today also. Yes the same materials produced, the site is a bit displaced (450 metres approx) and the terrain is absolutely horrible - all lumps and bumps, so to me Horizons is the option for material gathering. (I can't run EDH4.0 so cannot comment on that but I presume it will be the same horrible terrain as EDO.)

Me too, playing in solo. i'm lucky in never haing my SRV get so wedged I couldn't get it out. When you blow yourself up do you regen in the SRV or your ship ?

You know you don't have to self-destruct if you get you SRV stuck. Just launch the basic game (Elite Dangerous) and you will be in orbit over the site and your SRV safely stowed in its bay.

In your ship. SRV is telepresence except when it's magically not in Odyssey where you can get out of it and walk. If you're confused by this, all I can say is, so am I 🤣
No, the SRV was never telepresence. Only going into the turret is. Fighters are telepresence, though.

Your SRV is destroyed and you "die" and respawn in your ship.

The only time I ever got stuck in my SRV was in the early going at a Guardian site. I clipped a structure and rolled over and got stuck upside down. I logged off in disgust.

The next day when I logged back in to see if I could get out of it, I had magically teleported to just outside the site. Not sure if that was a one off, but if you ever get stuck again just try logging off and then back on.

Yeah, in a Guardian site when you log off you get teleported outside of it because it's a "dangerous area". That won't happen elsewhere, though.

So here she is. Spent most of the morning flying around to all the engineers getting the effects put on it.

Just got back from some bounty hunting. It does a very, very good job at it but it has the same problem that the Krait Mk II has: The windscreen cracks very, very easily.

But when you let all the cannons fly, it just melts ships SO fast it's actually funny to watch.
I have yet to buy one of these myself, but I'm glad to hear about your experience with it. I'm gonna do it. Someday :)

Today was a strange day.

First I crashed into the ring of a gas giant, because the ring was so thin it was nearly transparent. Of course once I crashed into it, it became more visible. Took some hull damage, and got a nice picture out of it.

Next, I found an entire planet of canyons. They weren't super deep, but they were all interconnected and interesting.

I might head back there later in a small ship and investigate a bit more.

Next I found a planet with what looked like tread marks going in a straight line across the surface for many kilometers. I followed the track both ways until it ended. On one end it just petered out. On the other it seemed to get narrower and change direction. I'm 90% sure it's just a graphic glitch, but I had to check it out in case :)

Oh, and I found a few plants of various types. Nothing out of the ordinary.

You mean, log out of 3.8 (aka Horizons) and launch the original game? And then go back to 3.8, I suppose.

In slightly unrelated news, I took my SRV for another joyride on Khun 3... Now I am proud owner of 30 units of Tellurium. 😲
All I need now are 24 Electrochemical Arrays and 6 DWEs and the first of those engines should be mine.

While cruising around, I stumbled across a restricted site with some drones coming after me. Showed on the scanner as something big but was almost invisible until I got too close and these drones rose. From what I could see, there was one canister of explosives and some manufactured material lying around there. (After the initial race against some bullets, I snuck back to take a closer look - couldn't see much except for the aforementioned stuff on the scanner screen (bottom left).) The planet as such is uninhabited with no POIs.

There's something weird going on with the game sense the latest update, the worst being that I lose my plot completely. I've always done 1000Ly plots with no filters and set on "Most Economical", I get roughly halfway through the plot and get a lost connection error and after relogging, everything's missing, all my data from previously scanned systems, the plot - everything.

If I bookmark the last system in the plot that will remain and the last system I left from is where I'm at upon relog. I've run deep scans on my Samsung 5TB SSD with no errors detected and did the same for my Elite Dangerous files, nothing, everything's healthy. My neighbors have DSL and cable internet which I barrowed and tried, same connection error.

5 plots, 5 connection errors. Also, I've noticed I'll spend twice as much time in the FSD tunnel as I did before the update. This has made the game almost unplayable for me, I'm thinking it's my local ED server here in San Jose, Ca. it's seemed really sluggish sense the update happened. When I'm using the FSS scanner, sometimes all the planet info doesn't show up. I don't know, anybody else notice strange goins' ons?

I used to see a lot of those when I was doing stuff on planets in the bubble. They are just random POIs that are sometimes scattered about the surface. It's usually just some cargo canisters with a few skimmers guarding them. Occasionally it'll be a crashed SRV or something.

When "Kill Skimmer" missions were the big thing, I would search out these little POIs and kill the skimmers there, because it was easier than trying to get the ones inside a base, what with the base having turrets and defense ships. I made what was then a lot of credits doing that.

Fun times :)

I see. One of those many untold stories of life and death in the void.

After many years of hating the DBx, I've decied to give it another try. Think the last time I flew it was before I bought my FC. Hmm. Anyway, it was underperforming so I had to apply a few upgrades (well, quite a few actually as I'd stripped it's parts for other ships in my armada), give it a new paintjob... and a new name.

So, here is "The Lady Sybil Ramkin" which I'm aiming to use for my Colonia area explorer:

Having been to the "end of the Galaxy" with a DBX, I can attest that properly kitted out they're a formidable explorer and easily keep up with an AspX. Mind you, my friend was in the DBX and I was in the Asp, so I've no personal experience of actually being in the pilot's chair!

Experimenting with this ship has found me slip over the sector border into Odin's Hold. Lot's of codex disco's coming in! The star density here is pretty thick so scooping is rapid and almost unnecessary.

And a first disco of a Herbig Aa/Be.

Oh, I'm going make Colonia my new permanent residence. Hope the stamp duty isn't too high out here.
