Just found a system with 49 planets. I'm yet to scan them all because I saw this:

Never seen anything like this. Have no clue what it is.
So when I get close to one I can target it. And silly me, I don't have any guns.
Googled it up and I scanned the two different colors and got two confirmed codex entries for my log book. Cool. I'll go check out the other spots after I get back from getting my flu shot.
You need the composition scanner in a fire group to trigger it. You can then scan it (the "notable stellar phenomena" or NSP for short) for stuff - mainly codex entries - but it doesn't really earn much in the way of cash.

No, they are Odyssey only, part of the new planetary stuffs.
Awesome find, though. I've visited a known system that had them once, but never found any on my own.
I have found a few of these of my own, but only once did I find anything other than these spiky crsytal doodah's. There are quite a few others:

I think if you get to be the first person in a galactic region to Report something to Codex rather than just confirming it you get more, not that I have ever done that yet.
@Marvin the Martian that isn’t an NSP that can be affected by or react to our weapons, I think I read somewhere that some of the Pods or maybe it was the Molluscs will react.
The second anomaly was in the rings of a planet.

When the Codex first came out I thought it would be a good time to maybe get my name in it by being the first person to find something in a Sector. I soon discovered that within days people had zipped all over the galaxy and been the first to discover nearly everything. Since it's only counted if no one else has reported it in an entire Sector, it's nearly impossible. Sectors are huge, and as soon as the first thing is found it's over in that entire Sector.Gosh, really? I can't be the first to have found some of the ones I've found, surely... I must be famous!
So I've had to settle for the occasional "Confirmed" entry. And even those don't always work.
The Codex shoulda been so cool, but...meh.

I love notable stellar phenomena and was excited to be first discoverer of a system with two once. I spent two 2 days manually doing FSD injected jumps of up to 126ly to get to Far Oasis in The Abyss to see some of the best in the game.
I see the system name so I'll jump over there in a couple of hours and see them myself. I'm thinking you should sell your exploration data before I do to make sure you get first discover for it - don't want to steal that from you.
I'm actually on my way back in now. I'm two jumps away but checking out the system I'm in.

Bummer.
Most space fauna don't do much but they can react to ship headlights.
Might take a 5 minute tea break and jump over there now. I'll do it in open.
Have you tried Horizons v4.0? They should exist in there too...Bummer.
