Autumn DLC Speculation

I'm kinda disappointed with this pack, the animals' roster isn't really my cup of tea, I'm happy for anyone who's excited and happy for this pack! I'm excited for bat and wombat, the other three are meh for me. At least it's nice that we got both Christmas and Halloween theme packs now though! I feel that new bat exhibit is likely a pathway to add aviaries and more birds

The skunk should have been a Tasmanian devil. I literally don't know anyone who wanted skunks. I've never seen them in zoos. I think of all the dlcs we've gotten this one definitely has the weakest roster. I only really care about the wombat.

But that they are adding bats is huge and if this doesn't strongly hint that birds are making their way in some form I don't know what does.

The scenery seems too 'themed' for me tbh. I don't know what I'd do with it

Personally, the skunk is my favourite of the line up of habitat animals, whilst I admit I wasn't overtly asking for them. Excited to use them, and here in the UK, zoos are the only place I have seen them personally!

The Wombat feels neccersary for Aus, and the Racoon I can appriciate and see the appeal for. I think the main issue here is getting all of these and the Red Fox at once. I think they'd be better recieved alongside more standout animals which they compliment, but don't add much impact as a quartet. In terms of the overall roster however, they all do bring something that by the end of the life cycle of PZ, I think we will be glad to have seen included than not. Hopfully by then we will understand why we got them here together, rather than in other packs down the line or previously (Aus/EU/NA). Them coming together now is likely due to their cohesivness, not their overall novelty, hopefully allowing for more standout picks in other themes such as Ociana where some odd balls would struggle possibly to tie into other themes.

In truth, I'd personally have dropped the fox in favour of the Tasmanian Devil or something more unique, but we don't really know how this choice was made, and if any animal here has taken away the 'chance' for another.. Though the fox being the only animal on the WHOLE roster I see with regularity in the wild, I'm not suprised it feels like the biggest detractor for me, and I know it'll get love from plenty of others. Still, having the badger have an animal i'd associate towards it now means they'll too have more relvence in my zoos and could lead to similar types of animals being less resented once more complimenting species are added.

Heavily themed packs do less for me too, but they ultimately become standouts for building styalised guest areas, houses and the like.Ultimately I feel this pack compliments many of the current DLC if owned and paired with the update it does well to lay some stronger foundations for future additions and currently weaker areas in the game, such as exhibits. If anything, I hope it does suggest a longer life for PZ yet to come!

To be honest what I am thinking right now regarding future DLC?

Birds in December possibly, thats why we got scenery now to have more animals in the next one. Then support throughout 2023 with the biome animal packs. Maybe? Would be great imo.

Personally I'm really excited for this pack, though it is for the most niche pack and won't be for everyone- but that's ok! Planet Zoo is a big game with lots of content already. I like that the animals are more "filler" animals especially ones that fill the north american niche of small carnivora we are really missing. The walk through exhibits are so exciting for the future. I hope they work like the other exhibits and the other walls can be glass.

Thoughts:

I hope we get some more normal looking mushrooms.

Foxgloves are extremely toxic! I won't be putting them in habitats! But they may be nice for creating pollenator gardens. I am very happy we're getting more plants to garden with.

Not certain about the theme - nocturnal was the idea I was least enthused with and this is a watered down version of that.

LoveLoveLove the habitat animals though. Small animals are what we need and are my person favorites to build for. Ans I can add some more animals to my local zoo reproduction!

Not as certain about the bats, but hey, I definitely called there being something up with all of the exhibit updates and the possibility of us getting a flying animal. Onwards to birbs! I do hope though that we still get a few more regular exhibit animals, not many, but a chameleon a gecko, and another snake or two...

The lack of Tasmanian Devil and Kiwi screams that we're getting an island pack in the future. Which is great! I will buy that in a heartbeat! And adding 3 common woodland species in this pack means that a future woodland pack can have all of our favorites.

I know it's hard to say anything for sure, but I feel like we've got a lot more dlc coming down the tube in the future!

Also, horray for a new career scenario!

Also, the Foxgloves seem to be flexi-colour! Just watch them throughout the trailer, truly like a rainbow!

Incredible, I guessed the theme I had already thought long time ago 🎃 🧙‍♀️🪦🐈‍⬛🦉

Obviously these are preliminary comments without having the DLC in my hand and I will write the negatives first and then the positives.

NEGATIVES:
After 4 months of abstinence I was expecting at least an animal-only DLC, so the classic 7+1, and instead we end up with only 4+1. Obviously I have never accepted the policy of these DLCs with such a small number of animals, and all the more reason this pack could be exploited much, much better, I don't mean that you had to make all the animals I had thought of, but the theme here was so vast that you could choose more and better. For example, the red fox, an animal I like, but always a clone of others already present in the game, has been exploited as already happened in the past to fill a slot with 5 miserable (numerically) animals. I would have liked it to be added later, not sure now that we have other foxes in the game, not sure in this DLC.

I would have exploited this theme exclusively for animals, for flora, for some habitat objects (for example the enrichment of the pumpkin with food inside that the animals must find), for some interactive statues for the guests. Instead, there will be "new" construction objects similar or otherwise quite useless (such as bright mushrooms, pieces of construction wood), unless it is a theme park, but since this is a game that must simulate one zoo, I don't think there are zoos in the world built with areas based on a spooky theme.

POSITIVES:

Finally as I had expected, ladies and gentlemen we have the animations for the flight, ALLELUIA!!!🙌👏🥳

An absolutely necessary dynamic, there couldn't be a zoo game without animals flying! Now there is the Egyptian fruit bats, I had foreseen the flying fox, that's okay, as long as you gave me a flying being. This opens up new perspectives, it will totally change the game, if the developers want it ... Seeing parrots, birds of prey and colorful birds will be beautiful and fun.

Connected to the first factor, there is the possibility of having larger exhibits, which can be used by guests. They are not modular as desired as I would have liked, but it is already an extraordinary achievement. I am not sure if we will have the option of using it with other animals, but only the fact that it is there too can change the dynamics of the game for the better, opens up new and very interesting perspectives.

The presence of the raccoon (I would not have included it in this pack but in a DLC dedicated to the animal neighborhood) could be the pass to the future presence (it absolutely must be there) of one of my favorite and very common animals in zoos, the coati.

Haha the skunk was literally my most wanted animal for the game. So now you know one! The skunk definitely suits the theme more than the tassie ever would anyway, so I’m delighted
