Winter DLC Speculation

I started to wonder what name they would go for with a bird or mostly bird pack

Expecting it would be an animal pack, and animal packs always having "animal pack" in the name it gets weird for me.

-Bird(s) Animal pack - Sounds weird
-Wings of the World Animal pack - still kinda weird.
-Aviary Animal Pack - They still use the word exhibit for the new form, so I don't see them starting to use this word now. Also this would mean habitat birds like Emu and similar couldn't be part of this pack.

Any logical names that includes "Animal Pack" in it?
  • Flying wonders animal pack
  • Soarin' animal pack
  • Lift off animal pack
  • Tropical avaries animal pack - this rolls off the tongue much better and imo we need a pack for each biome
Im sure the minds of frontier will think of something a millions times better

Flying animal pack, could be, sounds better but this means that all the animals from the pack would be flying animals and not necessary birds, like, butterflies and other bat

If it's just birds, I think Avian Animal Pack would work well. Sounds less weird than "bird pack" and doesn't exclude habitat species like Aviary Animal Pack would.

I'm thinking about birds more and more. I do think that the walkthrough exhibit will lead to those that need that type of setup - for those that need it, unlike the storks, swans, and what not. But I get to thinking that instead of a birds pack if we get another scenery pack and then birds in the spring. Thematically it would make more sense in the spring, but if they want to really "wow" us with something for the end of the year it would make sense to be birds.

But here's what I'm thinking - just adding in my own ideas.
We've gotten 18 animals so far in 2022.
I'm going to just add in an anniversary animal, but am aware it may or may not happen. It's just one animal though.
Birds - I'm guessing this would likely be 8 animals, but let's also run the numbers if it were 12 or even 16. 16's unlikely but I don't see 12 as too far out of reach.

That's 31/35/39 animals for this year.

Then if we took a look at next year and we got 4 scenery packs (bear with me on this...)for 20 animals and 1 anniversary animal, that's 21 animals.

OR

We get a scenery pack in December. Be it islands, another temperate type pack - yes we just got a stealth temperate pack, but we had two temperate-ish packs last Fall/Winter - or something else, that would put us at 24 animals this year.

Then we move the Avian pack to spring of next year. So again with the line up of 8/12/16 in that pack, and three scenery packs and 1 anniversary animal, that runs to 24/28/32 animals next year.

In all honesty? I know it'd be a painful 6 months of not knowing until we know, but even though I badly want an expanded Avian roster, I would rather we have several smaller packs before it, to give it the opportunity to be a supersized pack. I'm thinking that if we had yet another scenery pack in December, it would seem more of a possibility we'd get a larger pack in the spring.

While Frontier could certainly make a theme to fit any animal at any point in the year, I'm just feeling like grasslands, deserts and rainforests aren't as likely for December - which would take out animals like the Red River Hog, Maned Wolf, Emu, Sloth and an Old World Porcupine out of play.

That leaves us with: The Islands pack (starring the Tasmanian Devil), Avian Pack (so many stars to choose from!) or a Temperate/Taiga type of pack (starring the Wolverine). And of course, whatever else Frontier might roll out, which will probably be something that hasn't even crossed my mind.

I honestly hope for an animal pack in Winter and the switch could allow to put Winter and Summer pack (drylands would really fit into summer) as animal Packs after we got 2 spring and 1 autumn pack as animal packs.

That's true. just me, but I really am not associating "Drylands" with March/April months. More May-September. But...that's probably just local weather bias.

So, after seeing the videos of the new walktrough exhibit, I'm not really sure what to think about them. They work good for the bats, which move a lot and are small. So I could definitely see something like parakeets, conures or lorikeets being kept in these kind of exhibits, but I would be a bit disappointed if it would have taken 3 years to give us such a system, I'd rather have something similar to the siamang climbing thing, on which the birds could perch and fly between the points. This would probably give us a bit more freedom.
Anyway, all I know is that we are really lacking birds. Hopefully we'll receive some flying ones, but even if we would just get ground birds, I would be completely happy with that.

Feathers Animal Pack

That way, we could have habitat birds, like the rhea or kiwi, and a WE, without it being inconsistent, you know?

I highly doubt we'll get a dedicated bird pack. The people who want birds want a lot of them and will buy multiple packs to get them. The bird ambivalent and anti-bird crew will not buy a bird only pack. Therefore.

My guess is we'll get 1-2 WE animals in every pack from here out plus a few more habitat birds where relevant.

Examples -

Mountain Pack
Pallas cat
Golden takin
Gelada
Spectacled bear
Himalayan Monal
Bar-headed goose
WE Golden Eagle

Drylands Pack
Dromedary
Maned wolf
Saiga (forever dreaming...)
Emu
WE Budgie

The only thing i´m sure is that the name and of the Winter DLC will be something that nobody will know and will guess like the rest of packs of this year XD and personally i´m happy with that
Exactly. I don't even bother to speculate anymore at this point lol

Summer pack would be in June and not in March/April
_Absolutely, which is what I was trying to say. Let's hope for Drylands in summer! sooooo Islands - Birds - Drylands- Rainforest -Mountains or Birds - Islands - Drylands - Rainforest - Mountains is what I'd love to see. Headliners not sure on the birds since there's so many, but Tasmanian Devil - Maned Wolf - Sloth - Wolverine

Enough with the cats. Unless it's something completely unlike anything we have, like an ocelot or a sand cat, I'd be fine with no more cats. Maybe a caracal as we have no desert cats.
Never enough cats.

Give me my serval. Give me my European wildcat. Give me my Sumatran tiger.

Overload me with cats. I want so many cats that the game becomes Planet Cat. No, that's an exagerration, but there still aren't enough cats.

"Flying Animal Pack" seems more up Frontier's alley, because they will certainly add a second bat.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what such a pack looks like. Seven groundbirds plus one exhibit?

I'm thinking that the walkthrough exhibit we have now may only me intended for bats and potentially butterflies. They just seem to basic for flying birds and lack customization. I'm thinking habitat avaries would be extremely similar to the WT exhibit and basically function as a habitat. The same null and pre-built barriers would apply and they would come in multiple sizes and shapes. This way the actual "aviary" size could be whatever you want but the area in which the birds would fly would be restricted, just like the WT exhibits with the null option. I would expect looped animations to some degree. Birds definitely would be so cool, but I'm not counting on getting them this December. Other than the fact it's peak sale season for video games, I don't know if Frontier would even plan to release them this year. Thoughts?
