I'm thinking about birds more and more. I do think that the walkthrough exhibit will lead to those that need that type of setup - for those that need it, unlike the storks, swans, and what not. But I get to thinking that instead of a birds pack if we get another scenery pack and then birds in the spring. Thematically it would make more sense in the spring, but if they want to really "wow" us with something for the end of the year it would make sense to be birds.
But here's what I'm thinking - just adding in my own ideas.
We've gotten 18 animals so far in 2022.
I'm going to just add in an anniversary animal, but am aware it may or may not happen. It's just one animal though.
Birds - I'm guessing this would likely be 8 animals, but let's also run the numbers if it were 12 or even 16. 16's unlikely but I don't see 12 as too far out of reach.
That's 31/35/39 animals for this year.
Then if we took a look at next year and we got 4 scenery packs (bear with me on this...)for 20 animals and 1 anniversary animal, that's 21 animals.
OR
We get a scenery pack in December. Be it islands, another temperate type pack - yes we just got a stealth temperate pack, but we had two temperate-ish packs last Fall/Winter - or something else, that would put us at 24 animals this year.
Then we move the Avian pack to spring of next year. So again with the line up of 8/12/16 in that pack, and three scenery packs and 1 anniversary animal, that runs to 24/28/32 animals next year.
In all honesty? I know it'd be a painful 6 months of not knowing until we know, but even though I badly want an expanded Avian roster, I would rather we have several smaller packs before it, to give it the opportunity to be a supersized pack. I'm thinking that if we had yet another scenery pack in December, it would seem more of a possibility we'd get a larger pack in the spring.
While Frontier could certainly make a theme to fit any animal at any point in the year, I'm just feeling like grasslands, deserts and rainforests aren't as likely for December - which would take out animals like the Red River Hog, Maned Wolf, Emu, Sloth and an Old World Porcupine out of play.
That leaves us with: The Islands pack (starring the Tasmanian Devil), Avian Pack (so many stars to choose from!) or a Temperate/Taiga type of pack (starring the Wolverine). And of course, whatever else Frontier might roll out, which will probably be something that hasn't even crossed my mind.
