Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

What do the journal files for first discoveries look like? I should check mine.
"WasDiscovered":false
-comes with a caveat: had no 1st discovery tag at the time of the scan, might not be true anymore at the time of data sale (with a very high probability is true then too, if those points of time aren't months or years apart)

Where do I find them, in the first place?

Interesting. I thought I could get EDDiscovery to search the journals for me, but I can't figure it out. I also tried just searching through the journals with windows search, but it just gives me all the files that have "wasdiscovered":false in them, and no way to tell what they were (and there's tons of them).

So I dunno how to do this :)

Not at my gaming PC, so can't check for EDD - but if it's just a matter of scanning through files, get Notepad++. The search function permits you to search for strings in files, which get listed in a result window. Clicking on the line in the result window opens a new tab on that line in the original file.

Oh, I may have misunderstood that field. I thought I saw it on ELWs that were already reported but undiscovered to me. But, that's OK I immediately went for a dirty hack and took all the earthlikes with any four digit coordinate, ruled out the named planets in mini bubbles and colonia, and looked at the remainder about ten in the galaxy map. So I used grep, sed, notepad, and the galaxy map :).

Righty-ho then. Having managed to waste a few NPC pirates in the Mamba, I then went to the nearest raw mat trader in the Adder. This is only the second time I've flown this ship since I bought her the other day, but thought I'd see what Felicity can do with this ship's FSD and if successful, then go back to her in the Dolphin so she can do that one. My Adder doesn't even have a fuel scoop at the moment and the jump range in less than 10lys, but no matter as the trader I needed was only two jumps away at that range from Deciat. Anyway I WAS able to get six units of arsenic from him. (y)

So now I'm back at Felicity's place in the Adder and for the first time I've seen what it looks like in daylight. A good luck sign maybe? We'll see...

https://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=567 you need EDmc for this plugin.

look for something like this you mean.

I remember that from Star Trek, Federation Constellation-class starship. I name all my ships after M1A1 main battle tanks I saw in the Gulf War, some of which were pretty witty.
Exactly, Captain Picard's first command.
The ship names are all over the place in my case. Star Trek, Hitchhiker, a car, some animals (based on how the ship looks to me) and some planes as well as Star Wars might make an appearance in the future.

How is the Mamba?

Been doing some trading over the last hour or so, two jumps 21+ million per trip, just one interdiction so far. It's worth it.

Not sure what I'm gonna do next, the passenger missions from CEOS are completely nerfed, I got scanned several time and ended up in jail twice, sold ths ship said "sod it", I have other ways to make credit.

In any way, I'll fill up the Carrier with Tritium again and get ready for another exploration, I'm thinking about Norma Expanse and Arcadian Stream, perhaps half way through the Carrier range and the rest with the Krait Phantom...

I like it for combat purposes. Has plenty of speed for quickly escaping as well if I'm getting a lot of damage. Also good for getting materials from degraded signal sources etc. Sadly the Dolphin isn't much good for that though, as the cargo scoop is almost impossible to see properly because of the very bright strip that's part of the cockpit and is right underneath it when deployed.

Re Felicity, she now wants Chemical manipulators and a Chemical distillery...

I see.

About farming materials, I figured that Modified Embedded Firmware is almost impossible to get those days, reason why I tried those CEOS missions, I went out for two days in succession to get those firmware to engineer my fighter multi-cannon, passenger missions and Famine system where I scanned Frame Shift wakes...

Engineering can be a challenge sometimes, I don't mind too much as I managed to cumulate some knowledge of how and where to get the material I need but this was too much, never saw that before, it's like the level of difficulty to obtain some key materials have been brought right up.

If you use INARA, you'll find every information before taking a decision, the material you need to farm vs what you have, which engineer does what and where they ware, you'll find those infos under DATA/Engineers and Commander/Inventory...

I'd go Crashed Ana and use a material trader...
