In that Case the Striped Hyena is the real GhoulThe real werewolf.....
In terms of that hyenas are mainly scavengers (except the aardwolf and partly the spotted hyena), they all would be "ghouls" somehow. In that Case the Striped Hyena is the real Ghoul![]()
There are 60 EAZA holders of spotted hyenas, 52 of striped hyenas and only 2 of brown hyenas.I don't think that all of them have any bigger chances to be added to the game...because hyenas in general are very rare in zoos.
So what?... The platypus is only kept in a few australian zoos...and it's in the game. The amount of animals in captivity says absolutely nothing....There are 60 EAZA holders of spotted hyenas, 52 of striped hyenas and only 2 of brown hyenas.
I absolutely adore hyenas (they're my favourite family of carnivorans), but of the remaining species I only see the striped hyena as having much chance of being added - this is in spite of the brown hyena also being my favourite species of hyena. What I'd like more than any other hyena though is a remaster of the spotted hyena, but that's unlikely to ever happen.
Brown hyenas are nightmare fuel for me. Something about their faces, it's like they're a zombie version of a regular hyena.![]()

I'm talking in regards to likelihood - chances are we're only going to get one more hyena, and the striped hyena is both more well-known, more popular amongst the PZ community and more well represented in zoos. I'd absolutely love to have every species of hyena in the game (I have no opposition to the brown hyena being added - it isn't absent in zoos or anything, and it's my favourite after all), but I don't think that's a likely scenario. So what?... They are pretty much a retread of the spotted hyena, in looks, biome and range, and are rare in zoos.Nearly all of the big desert predators are already in the game....except the brown hyena. And because of that they have to be in a potential desert pack...
Was refering to Striped Hyenas sometimes digging up Graves for Food but I assume Brown Hyenas would probably do it too. Spotted Hyenas are probably less likely to do it due to them hunting in Packs which makes it easier to get Food.In terms of that hyenas are mainly scavengers (except the aardwolf and partly the spotted hyena), they all would be "ghouls" somehow.
The brown hyena looks quite similar to the typical description of werewolfs....
Would be awesome. Especially if we could keep bigger Packs under specific Circumstances. I know the other Hyenas are solitary but for the Spotted Hyena it just feels wrong that they'll always try to kill each other no Matter what you doWhat I'd like more than any other hyena though is a remaster of the spotted hyena, but that's unlikely to ever happen.
They are also kept in a few Zoos outside of Australia. I think the San Diego Zoo has a Enclosure with themSo what?... The platypus is only kept in a few australian zoos...and it's in the game. The amount of animals in captivity says absolutely nothing....![]()
Like I said before.... All the big desert predators (lions, leopards, cougars) are already in the game.... Except the brown hyena. Which is why I think that they have a chance to be part of a pack.I'm talking in regards to likelihood - chances are we're only going to get one more hyena, and the striped hyena is both more well-known, more popular amongst the PZ community and more well represented in zoos. Disagree in all pointsThey are pretty much a retread of the spotted hyena, in looks, biome and range, and are rare in zoos.
The striped hyena is common in zoos, distinct in look, and offers a completely new range that spreads all the way from the Sahara to India, including east africa and the middle east.
If we ever get a second hyena, it should be the striped hyena.
I wouldn't call the brown hyena a "classic animal". It's niche at best, if not completely unknown. It is literally the lowest hyena on the wishlist, by an order of magnitude.Like I said before.... I could well imagine a desert pack with:
-brown hyena
-dromedary
-sand cat
-addax
-caracal
-hamadryas baboon
-coyote
-saharan horned viper
I mean...what other bigger classic desert animals are left... (most are either very small, living in deserts and the savannah or already in the game)...
Who cares where it's on any listI wouldn't call the brown hyena a "classic animal". It's niche at best, if not completely unknown. It is literally the lowest hyena on the wishlist, by an order of magnitude.
The striped hyena could fill the "desert hyena" spot a lot better than the brown hyena.
If I'm correct, the golden jackal is quite common in southern europe (and already appearing in central europe)What about a Golden Jackal? I know, another canine, but would give us a Middle East animal.
I could imagine the aardwolf to be in a special insectivore packView attachment 331104
Truthfully I’d be happy with any one of the three remaining species. It would probably come down to the striped or brown with the aardwolf being the underdog. I like all three tho.
1. Short-beaked EchidnaI could imagine the aardwolf to be in a special insectivore pack![]()
The classic european hedgehog would be great too.... But in general that would be a great pack1. Short-beaked Echidna
2. Numbat
3. Southern Tamandua
4. White-bellied Tree Pangolin
5. Sloth Bear
6. Aardwolf
7. Bat-eared Fox
8. Thorny Devil [E]
Actually not a half bad pack.
