Manufacturing Instructions

Manufacturing Instructions seem to be back with a vengeance. None at Impact Sites yesterday, but today I got a mission reward of five of them (data download from a settlement with scavengers) and one of the data ports had one too. Also another mission in the same system with a reward of one MI.

Depends on the time between log ins. ArE yOu SuRe YoU pLaY tHe GaMe?

Seriously, was this childish attempt to discredit me really necessary? I guess it's easier to have a go at the other poster instead of discussion the actual topic at hand.

When I did Odyssey Engineering and had some goals in mind, I definitely had moments when I logged in, checked the mission board/quest givers, thought "Well, I guess not today then" and logged out again out of frustration. I do think that is a bit of an issue that could be improved upon.

Spending 10-30 minutes doing something I currently don't want to do isn't exactly a great solution though. It's not all that different from logging out and coming back later.

No idea this trick is mentioned already for getting easy way lot of MI's:

Go in concource and try to find a mission for salvage micro transformer.
This missions direct you to a crashed satelitte with a data port.
Hince and repeat the data port till you have enough MI's + some nice other data.
Once you pick up the micro transformer you can't do this anymore because mission is finished.

Have fun

In addition to that I quote myself from another thread some time ago...

About that relogging of surface POIs problem... go to the station's ship mission menu and try to find a "Liberate bootleg liquor"-mission.
This type of mission often spawns a setting with two skimmers and as long as you don't fetch the mission items (via SRV) you're able to relog as often as you want or can stand it and download data from the skimmer ports. Not the most elegant solution but chances are high for that mission setting. 🤷‍♂️

To ease ones pain some distraction in form of a TV series or whatever your liking is, is absolutely helpful... ;)

Just sayin'...

This absolutely worked out for me and I got about 100 MIs + about 55 SDPs from the two Skimmers plus some other data.
But beware, one has to be prepared for some dull relog "work" and I can only recommend this if one is in "dire need" of either MIs or SDPs...

How do you get a "skimmer port?" Blow them up?

What @SteveWW57 said, the data ports of the two crashed Skimmers, or in short skimmer port... ;)

But beware, those Liberate bootleg liquor missions don't spawn two Skimmers every time, there are different mission site layouts.
I don't think I've ever seen one of those Bootleg Liquor missions. Do only certain factions issue them?

Hmm... actually I followed a tip from another thread about this issue and found some missions in Shin Dez.
But I guess every faction can hand out these missions even though they seem to be very rare. 🤷‍♂️

Never did that again since because it's really mind- and heartbreaking... ;-/

I took three missions 'organically' tonight (i.e. do not spam relog the message boards).

1x crash site mission (2 MIs + 1 MI at the satellite crash site)
1x site power restore (2 MIs)
1x eliminate scavengers (5 MIs, there were only 4 scavengers when I turned up so it took about 5 minutes).

So got a total of 10 MIs from that.

It's really hit and miss though; other evenings it will be a completely different mix.

If I don't see a decent mission at one port I'll grab an Apex and check the other ports in the system. Pioneer Supplies too.
^ I think this is the best advice; you avoid relogging, you get more chances to find the materials you want, you can multi-task other out-of-game things while the taxi drives you and you get a roll of the dice with Pioneer. It's win-win with this tactic (and I use it regularly).

Can confirm Liberate missions are a great grind for Manufacturing Instructions and SDPs:

Find a low-threat HORIZON "Liberate" mission. Liberate Liquor is an example, the mission card will say an SRV is required. Because it is a Horizon mission you won't see any foot spawns.

As previously mentioned in the thread, you may need to pick up several missions of this type to find one spawning the site you need. You are looking for the following scenario of 1 SRV and 2 Skimmer to spawn for your mission:

Both skimmers have a data port with decent chance of Settlement Defense Plans, Manufacturing Instructions, or Patrol Routes to come up. Relog until no more are needed.
