This is a review I recently wrote and its a shame, it had so much potential and still does.

Which year will SC have its full game ready for release, with all the promised scope, gameplay mechanics, and 100+ star systems? 2040?
Why the toxicity towards SC?
Toxicity? It seems a valid question to me, it has been 10 years in alpha so far. (Yes, I pledged to SC, so am talking objectively)

There is no hint of release of SC, nor even when it may go into beta. It remains a perpetual alpha with much more to add in the future. (VR was even mentioned as a possibility, then swept under the carpet)

RSI published a roadmap that covered the next 2 years or so, with no mention of beta or release. So at least 2 years from today, it seems.

I used the word "nonsense" for your assertion that people were becoming K-A because there was something they were failing to notice. As I pointed out, the real reason people become K-A is because they do missions.
And as I said.

The only reason why they can do missions for both factions, is because there was nothing put in place to stop this upon release. As the game was released early and new mechanics and features were going to be added later.

By this time, people were crying I don't want lose my Cutter or Corvette, if any changes were made. So FDev were scared to make the changes. As they completely failed to see the other in game assets in game they had to overcome these problems.

Sorry, you do like what you hearing, but facts are facts, history is history. If you are content with Elite Dangerous being a shallow and undeveloped meh, then fine. Enjoy what you got.
I don't, I want Elite Dangerous to be the best it can be for year to come.

I want Elite Dangerous to last like eve online, WoW and so many other great MMO's.

So apologise for wanting ED to be better than the meh it is.

Why the toxicity towards SC?

I want it to be a roaring success and what is wrong with that?

I also don't just want Elite Dangerous to be meh, I want it to be the best it can be. What is wrong with that?

I am glad that NMS, clawed it's way back from it's from depths of oblivion. Fantastic stuff.

Why are ED's fans toxic towards other games and idea of make ED the best it can be?

Just why?
You mentioned the biggest difference between ED and SC and made it something about release strategy. IMO the actual "biggest difference" is that I can play one and not the other. I don't call it "toxicity" to notice that crucial feature.

Elite Dangerous has been in development for 8 years.

No flying through the clouds of gas giants
No landing on Earth like planets and hunting alien game for rare and exotic material in rich planet wide ecosystems, as David said himself up the run and release of the game.
No landing on real atmospheric planets.
Or flying over the surface or exploring lave world's

ED is far from being completed itself, isn't?

So why the Toxicity? And yes, making sarky nasty comments about other game is Toxic, as it makes the ED community look bad.

And yes, you can still play SC in it's alpha state. So you are even wrong on that account.

OK. Have FD ever said that they didn't intend players to do missions for both factions? I don't think they have. I also think that if it was their intention they could have easily implemented it by now. The idea seems to be just something you've thought of. Prove me wrong with a link if you have any source.

Indeed, it has been improving for the more than 5 years I've played ED.

It was released almost 8 years ago. (not alpha, not beta, gamma or any other greek character)

You may have an opinion that it is incomplete and lacking, that is your right....

I wasn't a kickstarter, I bought the game I had, it has had updates, I'm happy enough. It appears that some early backers are unable to come to terms with what the game is, preferring to live in their own interpretation of the aspirations DBOBE had all those years ago. That, again, is their choice, isn't it?

Tell me how having consequences can stop you from running missions for both factions? It just that you can't be a King or Admiral at the sometime.

Like I said, If you are satisfied with meh.

Good for you and I will never knock you for it.

But I want ED, to be amazing, the best.

I'm just not content with meh.

Star citizen went with going for the full game on release

Im telling you now this country will have another King on the throne long before that happens.
In fact Mr Musk could well have us living on Mars before SC gets out of Beta.
I wrote that 50 quid off years ago.

As you don't like the current mechanics of the game regarding ranks with superpowers why did you not just pick a side & stick with it?? I personally stuck with the Federation & have never done an Empire mission nor do I venture into Empire space except for piracy.

What toxicity was in my comment? Are you reading something that isn't there? I asked you a simple question, did I not, supplemented by my enjoyment of Elite Dangerous:
Which year will SC have its full game ready for release, with all the promised scope, gameplay mechanics, and 100+ star systems? 2040?

In the meantime, I'll continue playing Elite Dangerous with all the gameplay it offers (and no account wipes): galaxy exploration, battling & researching aliens, faction warfare, economic shenanigans, FPS stealth & hacking, and a complete & robust combat-flight model.
I enjoy playing lots of games; I probably play at least 20 a year, and am happy with what each game offers.

As for space games, for which you appear to have some kind of forum-user-paranoia about, I've also enjoyed playing NMS, Space Engineers, Evochron series, X series, XWing series, Everspace 1 & 2, Freespace 1 & 2, Descent 1 & 2, FTL, KSP, Outer Wilds, Outer Worlds, and many more. I am a Kickstarter backer of Star Citizen too, and test most major updates when they happen.

The only toxicity I'm seeing is your responses to people who disagree with your opinions and/or communication style.

Conflict Free Space 1&2
Two of my favourite games ever.

Sorry, I am Autistic and Dyslexic. My apologies if my Commnications skill come across funny.

I have to edit my posts about 18 times to get them sort of how I want them to say.

I am just trying to be honest, be at least I am not going around putting meme's in the thread to specifically to laugh at people, like some others.

if you are being honest about autism and dyslexia, then my apologies for poking fun at your OP tilte. I have a son who struggles with dyslexia and i understand the challanges presented by typed/written communication.

that being said, i don't agree with your OP thesis. Elite: Dangerous is not a failed game. it just appears it's a game that doesn't meet your expectations or desires.

as to toxicity, well, that seems to have gone both ways here. you've been a fairly aggressive in some of your posts.

good luck to you and i hope you find a space game that does all the things you want it to do.

Edit: spelling

But at least we have a game to play 🤷‍♂️

No, just no.

How can you have game play when you have King - Admirals?

In order to develop richness of gameplay you need consequences and the reasons you need this as you need to have factors to work from. No consequences = shallow game play.

That fair enough, fly safe CMDR o7

I am honest. I don't lie.

You can ask the mods how times I edit my posts, if they have details on that sort of things.

And thing with autism, is that things need to make sense. If they don't make sense, then thing irk me. It's why stuff like King - Admirals annoy the hell out of me, at a fundamental level as it simply just doesn't make sense.

And the whole thing about ED dangerous, the biggest selling point to millions of people, was that it was going to be a serious game, made by serious people, with a rich universe where things made sense.

And I know, the game should be so much bigger and better than it is.

The game is not bad, it's okay, but I know it can and should be a million times better.
