I had visions of “medium cytoscrambler” by changing the experimental to Incendiary Rounds, but alas they’ve closed all of the engineering loopholes a while back.

So you tried the transfer to engineer first then fit to ship, then and only then fit a new experimental...
Boo as that was working even when fdev said they killed it...

I tried a bunch of ways, including transferring it off, replacing it with a store bought stock module and back. No dice. Couldn’t get past the “can’t be engineered” square.

They’re still going to be useful. That’s a lot of DPS from a medium hardpoint. You just need a ship that can keep them on target as well as a source of corrosive somewhere to bring that 37 armor piercing up.

Also not a fan of fixed weapons; I wish they'd offer gimballed or turreted as rewards sometimes, I might actually have some use for those.

Well, a multicannon with 3° Jitter does not behave exactly like fixed weapon.
As in: you dont really need to aim, just to shoot it in their general direction - with that jitter and that rate of fire a hit will be guaranteed

With a multicannon I don't just want a hit...

I'd love to see a video of these in action sometime. They kinda remind me of the old Uzi submachine gun, a super fast totally inaccurate spray of bullets everywhere, eating magazines faster than I eat pastry.

I’d try them on the central mediums of a FDL. The convergence is good and the ship can turn well enough to keep them on target. The Challenger and the FAS could also work similarly.

Any small ship with medium hardpoints would also do fine. I want to make another super cold DBS for them.

We should wing up sometime!

Got the video up and put it in a new thread over in Dangerous Discussions - I think folks will want to see them in action :D

They're very good. I like them.

I’ve tried them as well today on a DBS and a FDL. The damage is nice. The aiming isn’t bad, and I’m forcing myself to remember that I’m only going to hit power plants by coincidence with weapons like these. I still don’t like phasing in general, but I guess the weapons are so inherently damaging that it’s just a bonus.

One issue is that the armor piercing is 37 at base and only 57 with corrosive, so we do leave some damage on the table against most combat worthy medium and large ships. They’re basically like frag cannons in that way, and I’m starting to think of these basically as multi-frags or auto-shotguns. For both weapons, the massive damage has to compensate for the damage soak from low AP.
