1.3.05 all red down arrow on ALL major factions and related subfactions!

I hope the Xbox players are having the same issues, how many Xbox players do you think will put the hours in required by power play and the new rep system.

Id say 1/100.

Good job we have arena commander..... Ahem.... I mean CqC!!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet that we misunderstand those arrows. My most recent interpretation of them are that they indicate which way that factions' change in influence is headed. Not an indicator of our relationship with that faction. Remember, in Elite, it's not all about us.

damn. oh well, thanks for the bad news.

so it works the other way too, yes? - anybody i'm hostile with should get a blue arrow until they eventually reach Neutral status?

Nope. It won't go to neutral. It only goes from 'extremes' to the next level. So from Allied to Friendly, or Hostile to Unfriendly, where it will stop.

Unless, of course, they've broken it more than we've seen thus far, which I won't rule out just yet. :D

FD does an update and it's broken? Tell me it ain't so....

Seriously, they really, REALLY need to do the beta testing in the beta server, not live! What is that beta server for if they always go live with half of the features broken. I lose hard earned independent faction rep (friendly with all of them instead of allied), I lose major faction rep when online (The idea is stupid, but they said it was offline only, hahaha), I can overwrite explorer's 1st discovery (not fixed)... Probably I can't rank up too...

That's standard practice for all game devs. if they can save money it will be saved in QA and testing - as you chumps are unpaid testers. Been like that for years.

You do realise that there is no way to practically (i.e., economically) load test a modern MMO game without just releasing it? You can beta 'til you're blue in the face and have people whining that you never update and you'll still find a ton of issues when several hundred thousand people start playing 'for real'...

Away on holiday for two weeks. Hate to think what my rep will be when I get back.

It will be still Allied if you are allied already , it will just be lower down on the allied 'scale' , after a while it will end up at the top of the 'friendly' part of the scale and stop there...

I was away for 1 week and I am now friendly with all independent subfactions instead of allied. That's not supposed to happen but it happened anyway.

If I were you I would file a ticket with support, and if they can't restore your reputation, make a very big deal about it here on the forums. Because this is exactly why I have been saying ever since I noticed minor faction rep decay on the day that 1.3 went live - every day a fix for this is delayed, would hurt all the people who have ever deliberately brought up one or several independent factions.

Wouldn't hurt I guess... Sure I'll do a ticket...

EDIT: Made a ticket in the support site, but since they said they are not going to respond to bug tickets and want me to post on the support forum if I want to talk about it, I also made a post in the support forum.

Welcome to 1.3.05, beware of bugs...

Yes, every single rep goes down (by a lot) with an hourly tick. I don't know if it is normal, but it sure is not "offline only" as they stated.... They borked reps in 1.3 and it has gotten worse now...

Rep decay and repairs seem both to be handled that way: every time something is fixed, some other thing breaks. They finally made it so rep decay goes to the major factions (the arrows on the minor factions just mirror the effective rep, you actually need not really worry about those any more), but increased the decay rate like 1 tick/hour.

Ok, that is intresting. I belived it was on me but...

On my trade route, iam trading the same stuff since ages. But since the last patch i get strange red arrow readings on the factions in these two systems.

With every completed trade run these factions get different arrows, sometimes no arrows, somtimes on blue 2 red arrows, sometimes 2 red arrows. Total random.

i'm not sure if this is a bug, or part of the reputation loss mechanics for PP... perhaps one of you will know for sure

i have ships scattered about the place and i just went to visit one in Shanteneri, in Aisling's territory. when i got there i noticed every single major and minor faction on the rep panel had a red downward arrow next to it - all of them, even Fed and Alliance.

i hadn't shot anybody, or sold anything, or handed in any data or bounties, nothing - i just loaded up the game, got in my explorer ship and made the journey. (but i did get a few 'matchmaking error' disconnections along the way)

has anyone else had this before, is this normal?

** btw i'm not pledged to any power yet, so i don't think that's a factor.

Weird because in my game everyone seems to like me! Must be something you said! :D

This is exactly what i was thinking, glad im not the only one.

When you sell goods, you gain reputation with the owner of the station. A part of this reputation effect carries over to the major faction. The reputation and reputation changes displayed are the net result of individual and major faction reputation combined. So reputation decay lowers Federation rep, which lowers effective (not individual) minor faction rep. Now you sell goods to one minor faction, their rep goes up, blue arrow. Federation gains some rep, too, so possibly a blue arrow (if the effect is stronger than the last tick of rep decay). If you sell goods at a different station, the rep with their owners goes up, too, etc. So everywhere you sell goods should eventually show blue arrows, the major factions should, too, and the minor factions should show red or blue arrows depending on how much major faction rep you gained and lost in total. Independent factions should not be affected by these mechanics, and only change according to your actions directly towards them.
