1.5 VR Update

I'm posting messages without reading threads fully, I just asked if a bug has been filed on the pitch/roll/yaw issue when there's a link to the bug like 3 posts above this one D:

is it really so hard for FD to admit that ED no longer supports VR?

it's hard because ED DO STILL support VR. It's just that there are still bugs to be fixed. Remember VR is STILL beta so live with what you got for now until final release. Until then DO submit tickets to help them know/resolve issues. Consider yourself beta tester.
 
Also getting the camera nausea. I've done a little bit of dev work with the rift, and I'm convinced that camera drift can work with the rift, by aligning the rift wearer's "Down" (ie the but in seat) with the acceleration induced vector delta (the 1g down vector plus the acceleration vector) within limits (otherwise you could fall out of the chair). This...this seems to be doing the exact opposite.

In other news:
Anyone else having trouble with the system map? It seems to select bodies taking into account both the cursor (not the mouse pointer but the carat thing) and what I'm looking at. When I then look at the left panel, it deselects whatever I had selected. Very frustrating.

VR Yes in the form of the HTC VIVE, Oculus probably not so much, I detect a political fall out somewhere.. Which is a shame as nearly all the customers using VR right now are on Oculus hardware..

you have been beating this bloody drum for ages... give it a rest. ED still supports VR, and WILL support VR for its entire life imo.

I even fully expect 1.5 to support oculus rift when it comes out of beta and this current issue to be fixed... but even if it doesnt (and I will be gutted) ED will STILL be a game which supports VR.

2 hrs playing last night in both CQC and the CGs all played in VR.

no...... there are some games I do not feel are suited to VR (mostly fast paced fpsers - half life 2 is great in VR but its baby steps to build up a tolerence, and even then at my max i can only play for 30 mins without a breather or i pay a price).

ED 1.5 has a bug in VR which needs to be fixed. funnily enough i did not actual put my finger on the issue until i read about it here.... until then i was just playing knowing it made me feel a bit uncomfortable but was not sure why.

but beta is beta as they say and i suspect it will be sorted before release. (fingers crossed) its a simple emough issue to solve

I see no reason at all for them to be Vive exclusive, where did you get that from? The want every customer they can get, including the potential 200k DK2 owners they have now. Anything else would be very stupid.
Then if they cant put resources in updating every oculus runtime change on beta hardware i fully understand. Its alot better for them to focus on the consumer hardware and drivers at this point.
Wich seem like exactly what they do at the moment. so good for them.

I am running:-
DK2 (driver 0.7)
Windows 10 (64bit)
Latest Nvidia driver on a GTX980

Can someone guide me on what I need to the Oculus running again please :)

I have not tried the beta (not enough disk space nor time), but as far aas I know it is still only compatible with 0.5/0.6.1 . Check the forums for way to hotswitch between runtimes.

yeah dweezil is right, there is a switcher app you can get to swap between SDKs at the flip of a button, as well as how to get 0.6 working in windows 10. its linked in this forum somewhere, tho i cant help i am afraid as i just use 0.6 and windows 7.

Yes use the switcher linked at the top of the compendium (sticky in this forum)

If you have installed the latest Windows 10 update you maybe unlucky. The runtime switcher doesn't work for me since I installed it.
ED doesn't give any Rift options in the menu anymore. Finally have given up on ED in VR until the powers that be sort this mess out.
Problem is, I can't play in 2D. It's not the same game without the Rift.
Ah well, back to Fallout 4 (in 2D)
 
Just reformatted my machine back to Win 8.1 to test ED 1.5 beta with Oculus Rift .6 drivers.

Having set to HMD mode the display flickers horribly, completely unusable as it currently stands.

Anyone else having this problem? I'm going to play with SLI and settings but would be interested to see if anyone else has had similar.....
 
Is your rift in extended mode as that is all ED supports. Also in windows display mode is it set to 75hz (can't remember if portrait of landscape you can experiment).

Other than that check all your connections etc and make sure you are in USB 2 ports

Do other apps work (such as the demo supplied with the sdk)

Imo disable sli once all is running well maybe you can visit it again

Beta no longer supports Extended Mode - just supports HMD mode now. Everything works fine in live build, just the beta gives the horrible flickering......
