With respect, I have to disagree in regards to the changes being focused towards ADHD folks. As I live here in the states and have ADHD. With Elite's open sandbox - plenty to do and simultaneously, (accepting multiple mission types at once, take a break and go mine for a bit, etc). Then there is always your second account!

I do agree it should be bigger here in America. I don't know how I missed out on the kickstarter.

Sorry I didn't mean ADHD literally, just that we over diagnose the condition here as a rule, so we are associated with it. And we do tend to be "impatient" with short attention spans and memories as a rule as well, especially on the coasts. Should have just said Impatient, and not ADHD, my apologies.

... FD got the idea of pricing right, but how they got to think that instant ship transport would be a "fun" gameplay idea while all their dedicated fans begged them for months and years to not make ship transport instant is beyond me.
I do not believe they did for a moment. I believe they decided the feature on the basis of cost - this approach is very cheap and cheerful and very little code is needed for it - and then backed into a justification, since they were not going to tell us the real reason.

I may be wrong, but I doubt it. Mind you, this was the team that thought that [insert your least favourite feature here] was a good idea.

Nah, I guess it's fine, as far as the school system and the pharma industry are concerned, all boys have ADHD... sorry, totally off topic and a whole other can of worms. ;)

No idea but it is possible Frontier are erring on the side of cutting some corners due to 2.1 being behind schedule.

If they are going to meet the rough season/year target then the time's got to come from somewhere.

Even now it's looking like 3.0 is going to be at least a quarter behind schedule.

Who doesn't want ship transfer. By the way while I'm posting please can the devs forgive me for my previous rant on these forum, ahem. Is the best space game so keep up the good work :) kisses.

My next question is: Will we be able to purchase ships at any shipyard as long as we're willing to pay transfer costs for ships that aren't kept in stock? How about modules? If this is something they're implementing, all shipyards and outfitting should be unlocked at all stations so that I don't have to waste time flying around looking for an A grade FSD for a Clipper.

I'm wondering if insta-transfer has come about because all the UA / "Winter is Coming" narrative has so far only attracted a few (5.5k) committed CMDRs.
They are worried that a lack of willingness to do the hard yards by the customer base will mean the "emergent gameplay narrative" becomes a rout after a short time and then we have a green galaxy and we are all food for insectoid larvae...

I'll get my tinfoil coat

Possible... it will surely help to bum out a few 100 more players then, though.

NEW POLE PLEASE

We need a new poll that says;

I want instant transfer

I want a timer based transfer

Then Fdev will see clearly the mood of us villagers

That'll be a nope, not every module should be available at every station & if your ship does not have the A grade module in it at the start, it won't on the other side either.

Stands to reason that it's the next step. If they can instantly transport a ship I already own to me, why can't I place an order with a shipyard and have them use their Star Trek Teleporter and bring me that shiny new Cutter for a modest fee?

This thread has convinced me that I can easily live without it. Really if it's not done well I'd rather it's not done at all.

That's the gist of it...

Oh, I agree... you know, for new player convenience!

A minute is to long. I jump from system to system in ~20 seconds, with honk only.

I would get a new stopwatch if I were you. With the FSD cooldown and the time in the tunnel, the fastest you can do it with no scooping and pressing the jump button as soon as it is available is around 40 seconds. Only the real buckyball runners can keep that up for any length of time without mistakes. A minute a jump is the minimum reasonable value if you want the transfer time to be realistic in the game world.

That's honestly how I'm feeling. If there was a new poll, it would probably be a "no" for me now given I would be very surprised if this is done in a way that suits the Elite universe. No risk, too much reward. That's not Elite, surely! :)
