Patch Notes Update 2.3 Beta, Update 3

That's with very close to optimal engineering on the FSD and the sensors, running with half sized tanks and one SRV each. The notable results:

Asp X: 57.36 lys max range, 55.49 lys full tank, 0.18s fuel scoop rate
DBX: 60.00 lys max range, 57.93 lys full tank, 0.46s fuel scoop rate!!!!

That scoop rate still hurts even with half tanks, BUT for traveling speed purposes the extra range of the DBX just might make that time up in distance per hour. Testing will prove that out, but I'm wagering it won't be as bad a downside as it seems in the end.

I'm a bit confused about that scoop rate, is that time per tonne? If so, it's odd it's not the other way around, tonnes per second.

Either way, the other benefit of reduced weight / greater jump range is fuel economy. You can add some virtual tonnage using the cargo slider and then plot routes with the same jump range as before but greatly reduced fuel usage.

Typical wow factor with the update log, great job, bringing with it some very welcome news about the Diamondback Explorer.

Good morning, CMDRs. This morning we're applying an update to the beta which will cause them to be offline for a short time. The following changelog is the full list of changes being implemented to this new build.

...loads of great stuff

I think I love you!

0.46s = 0.46 seconds to fill a tank? Or do they mean 0 minutes 46 seconds? The latter I guess makes a lot more sense.

Yep. The Asp X will fill a 16T tank in 18s from empty, while the DBX will fill that same 16T tank in 46s, or 2.5 times slower. That’s the difference between a scoop which is one size larger than the FSD versus a scoop which is one size smaller than the FSD. This is why the DBX is the slowest fuel scooper in the game.

Thanks.

I guess then you could try both options:
- enjoy the increased jump-range / fewer jumps; and hope the time you gain there makes up for the slow scooping.
or
- reduce your max jump-range with the cargo-slider, and enjoy reduced fuel usage. Ideally what you can scoop while aligning with the next waypoint might match what you used in the previous jump.

Did a little testing with the DBEx and FSD G5 tuning.

Not bad if you ask me.

...all others D-rated except power plant and not modified

My own testing with the new and improved DBX.

Sacrificed a little jump range for improved speed, handling (4A G4 DD as found in the past that DBXs don't care about the extra heat  ) and shields which wouldn't fall apart by hitting a micrometeoite (250ish Mjs from 4Ds). I'll do some scooping testing later.

So far it seems a lot more stable.

Engine in cruise is a tad loud and still missing deep rumble when pulling out of a gravity well.

I am actually a little excited by the prospect of a new and improved DBE. But GOOD HOLY JESUS ON A MOPED! 55LY on a DBE. What dark magic is this????

Because they have a list of stuff to do, not enough time to do everything, and can only do a limited number of 'flea bite' fixes if they want to focus on serious matters. Just because they fix one simple thing doesn't mean they can fix an infinite number of simple things, its not how it works.

HEY ...stop making excuses for them

Well it was a god roll on the FSD to be fair - but still 50+ WITH a PVH - colour me pink and do something naughty.

Keep yer bloated Asps and Conda's - this is MY new exploration baby!! :D
