"Access to port services including ship transferring/storage/retrieval/selling are limited if the player docks in a 'wanted' ship (bounties and fines) applicable in that jurisdiction, and where transfer is possible, the cost is increased"

Unbelievable , FDev's tweaks players / ship movement BUT without allowing the most important Quality of Life gameplay improvement

which is "Allowing players to move from Ship to Ship without Cargo following"

You have a 700t cargo ship full of goods.
You then jump to your other cargo ship and fill that with goods.
You jump to another cargo ship.. and another.. and another.

I never said you said anything about hording commodities; but that's exactly what it would be used for; I was explaining (one possible reason) why we don't have it.

You're way off the mark BECAUSE like most on these forums , its repeat what the last person said , or repeat what 'you' think will happen, BECAUSE that's what you 'might' try to do.

BUT
without reading the threads first, you wouldn't know that its impossible to horde, as the threads below are all about Pilot movement Unlike those who have 2nd 3rd accounts which is about Hording !.

What's the worst possible action to happen if the ability to swap ships without having the cargo follow? Because that's EXACTLY what's gonna happen, given human nature.

I'm actually precisely on the mark. It doesn't matter what the request for storage is about, it doesn't matter why you want it - great as it is (in case you missed it, I'm in favour of keeping cargo in your ship so you can jump to different ships (with limitations)); the end result would be a consequence Frontier don't seem keen on allowing; otherwise they'd have likely already implemented it, or something akin to it, already.

How on earth would it impossible to hoard? You fill a ship. You transfer to a different ship. You're now stockpiling. You then repeat that action for as many ships as you can buy and fill up, and now you're hoarding. Even if it's just one ship.. you're still hoarding. What happens if we get 1,000t haulers, or 2,000?

Ship transfer without taking cargo with you will impact so much more than you think it will.

Transferring to a different ship without taking your cargo with you is a form of cargo storage; and given the ability to do so, many (probably most) players WILL (fact) begin to stockpile commodities for various reasons, the least of which would could be that they just want to go have some combat before going back to their trading, or some might use it as an insurance policy; they run out of money, they die .. oh nice, they still have a 700t cargo ship bursting at the seams with Palladium.

I don't see anything wrong with this, of course - but it's a reality that people will use it in similar ways.

What about Wings that spend their days influencing the BGS? Or trying to control or affect systems?

Example 1:
Wing A and Wing B are fighting for control of systems around their area of space. Wing B doesn't use stockpiling because they can't afford to, but Wing A can and does. Both Wings have 1000 Cmdrs. Wing B begins taking System X, then at least half of Wing A's Cmdrs with several 700t cargo ships stuffed with stockpiled commods a piece launch from Station Y, dock at Station X and sell their cargo. There are numerous things wrong here.

Example 2:
What about a Wing that wants to influence the markets? 100 Cmdrs each have 30 x 700t cargo vessels, that's 21,000t PER Cmdr; or 2,100,000t of cargo in limbo. What happens to the markets? Dump that cargo back into the markets at the right time? Again, what happens to the markets? Can the BGS handle that?
And that's just ONE Wing.

Example 3:
Community Goals.
A Player Faction wants to get their own Space Station.
In order to do so, 1000 members of this faction decide they're going stockpile hundreds of thousands of tons of a certain commodity (e.g.: explosives) (not to mention the hundreds of Cmdrs who may have done similar things after being told by their Player Faction friends to stockpile on explosives).
The CG is approved and launched.
Those 1000 members then dump all their stockpiled explosives into the CG.. completing, or almost completing, it in little to no time and only the members of the faction truly benefit from it. They're in the top percentile, they make a large profit, and they get their station.

Fair?

Even if your rule of only one ship with cargo is applied, the effect still be the same only to a slightly lesser degree.
A 1,000 Cmdr strong Wing will have 700,000t (1,000 x 700t) of stockpiled goods that can be used to influence systems, crash markets, unfairly benefit Cmdr's in CG's etc.

To reclarify, I'm not against cargo storage, I'd love to be able to buy up storage space at stations and stuff it full modules, or goods or whatever ... it's Frontier who are seemingly against it; with the examples above as possible reasons why.

Please read the threads Elite dangerous has become such a dumb game.

The idea you can have Space game were 'CARGO IS FOLLOWING THE PLAYER' is the dumbest idea in any Ship space game, in the history of space gaming, but given all the 'bull' on these forums that somehow allowing Players to move from ship to ship WITHOUT CARGO FOLLOWING, would lead to cheating only shows that the game your playing is been supported by those who think in terms of cheating.

For those who keep missing it here's the BIT from the threads..

Explanations how to code for Storage

( above is just 'showing' suggesting how to manage the temp cargo transfers, hording can't happen)

And remember TEMP STORAGE is a game-play improvement not a cheat, it would be impossible to horde
UNLIKE 2nd 3rd accounts were hording can be done !

But given Combat logging, the static gameplay, it's really no surprise that allowing players to move to any ship is restricted by cargo following the player around, and sums up this P2P menu game.

I have ED uninstalled, and don't miss Elite as ?? Blaze Your Own Trail ?? Quality of Life Improvement ....tactile organic thinking.... is not happening, and reading these forums it's not difficult to see why.

Then please feel free to ask to have your forum account deleted and move on with your life.
It says more about you than you think if you're still here, having a whinge about a game that doesn't suit your preferences.

Can somebody say to Braben to remove the material requirements during the besta testing? It is just a waist of time to look for the materials in beta server...

Braben's not the one conducting the beta test personally, so that won't do much at all.

They also reduced the requirements to 1 iron and are giving everybody 100 iron in the beta on Feb 6th for Beta 3 of 3.0.

No!.. feel free do delete yours, since you're still here having a whinge about a gamer, who wants a Space ship game to allow Pilots freedom of movement
and not have Cargo follow..

I have more feelings of been conned, than buying into this 'game' ? and later feeling disappointed.

Anyone whom has spent some serious time involved with the trucking industry could attest that if it's possible. One will do it.

Where as trucking companies only needed one trailer to do the majority of hauling, some figured, by having two it would be easier, because one could leave an empty and while it being filled, deliver the other. Which gave way to a company now needing mulitple trailers. one to be filled at each shipper establish ment and one at each receivers establishment. And if one can supply enough trailers, one can get an exclusive haul with various shippers and receivers. Thus the shippers and receivers have grown accostom to placing their ware on free trailers parked in their lots and no longer require the use of haveing to utilize a wharehouse. Which is fine for them, but sucked for anyone in the wharehouse industry.

Think about it, though most would never do it, threre are those that will. One has the maxed number of ships available, and loads the entire highest products leavng absolutly none for the next guy, and simply leaves them in the station till whenever. What would that do to a station economy. I mean, if a few bad guys running around reaking havoc by killing people and robbbing a few cargo carriers can effect a system economy, so can the absence of having no prouducts.

Just ask Prime, Inc in Springfield MO, or J.B. Hunt.

Just ask Prime, Inc in Springfield MO, or J.B. Hunt.

In an iterview with JB Hunt almost 30 years ago, he stated that if he himself could net just one cent profit from any and all of his company's ability to haul freight, he'd be a wealth man. Though the first years didn't net him much in the line of penney's. Today when combined those penny's add up to several million dollars. Prime followed in the foot steps of JB Hunt as did a number of other's but they are controled by corporations rather than individualy owned as in the case of JB Hunt. Which is owned now in its entirety by the Hunt family.
