Engineers 3.1 High grade emissions

Here's one of many discussion threads of the time. Basically guys identified the spawn table type instance identifier in the log. Not a method I ever tried, but this meant that they didn't need to wait to see whether the Anacondas turned up before relogging, you could just relog, check the instance type in the log, then relog again instantly until you got the correct spawn table.

Interesting. I'd thank you with rep, but apparently I need to pass it around more.

3.1 Seems much there same to me.

Engineering my Krait used up all my Improvised Components so had a quick search in my GalMAp and found Epsilon Indi was in Civil Unrest + high population, went there and went from zero to 27 required mats in about 45 mins, plus a lot of other mats as well.
Also had a quick run around on Mitterand Hollow while there, that moon just freaks me out. :D
Epsilon Indi
I just wasted three hours in Epsilon Indi and didn't get a SINGLE HGE. An additional eighteen hours, over the course of the last week, in various other Civil Unrest systems with pops in the billion range. Nadda, either.

Thanks FDEV. This truly is "Quality Content". [mad]

EDIT: VZ Corvi just provided ONE HGE. With two, TWO spawns of Improvise Components. THANK YOU SO MUCH FDEV. (/maximum sarcasm, /maximum salt)

3 HOURS What the flip!! If a single HGE does not spawn in 30 - 45 mins, then i am off to another suitable location. After 45 mins max and no HGE's, you know it is not going to happen, move on Man!

Do the devs even pay attention to the forum? How is this considered fun? I mostly put up with it because there's no other option. But good god, this is ridiculous.

I had some minor success two days ago - I found two HGE's without too much effort. I returned to the system last night however and, after a couple of hours flying around I found just one which had different materials to those I was looking for.

I'm personally after Proto Heat Radiators mostly, and collected 15 two days ago quite quickly. Last night I found zero, but picked up some other stuff. Sure, the other stuff (that I cannot recall right now) is sure to be valuable, but two hours cruising around and just one HGE with no PHR's? *sigh*

I'll attempt to follow the tips here - I'm already in a high-pop "boom" system, so that's a start.

You know, I like Engineering, but the amount of time I spend doing material grind vs. the time I get in the ship doing fun stuff once Engineered is...unbalanced. I've never managed to obtain anywhere near the materials needed to engineer a handful of modules on one ship from "natural" gameplay. "Natural" to me is generally trading (manual and missions), passenger runs and some High/HazRes bounty hunting.

I'm considering doing some Guardian stuff soon - I hope that's not more of the same!

Scoob.

I'm not sure why anyone would recommend Epsilon Indi. It's a multi-stars system and multi-stars systems are still bugged in 3.1.3 -- in some systems the "Deep Space" region is erroneously determined, and chances are you'll never have any HGE spawn, cause the game system doesn't recognize that you're in Deep Space zone. Though I also had experienced a lot HGE spawns in some multi-star systems, such as Athra.

I've no idea how to distinguish between "normal" multi-stars systems and "buggy" multi-stars systems, so I just avoid them all when grinding HGEs.

I was grinding Improvise Components at the same time, and I had two candidates: Cupinook, and VZ Corvi. I went to Cupinook first, and the result is 4 HGEs for 3 hours. 3 HGEs contains only two Improvise Components but the last one has 4. (P.S. Civil Unrest state in Cupinook is already ended)

My worst experience is Pharmaceutical Isolators: only 1 HGE spawn in 2 hours. But luckily I'd scooped 5 Isolators in that HGE.

Military Supercapacitors/Alloys are much easier: I've got 8 HGEs in 2 hours at LHS 2925, total 42 Alloys + 39 Supercapacitors.

2- Spawn Rates vs types of USSes:

The spawn rate of HGEs seems to be consistent with what I remember from before, and they have always been a pain.

I found that HGE spawn rates varied. Not sure whether the system state would have influences. The systems I choose are all Alliance and similar in size / population, and I fly in the same manner:
  • approach Nav Beacon but don't drop in
  • pick the far-most target from contact
  • throttle up till "Shipping Lane" appears
  • turn 90º, full speed till "Deep Space", and keep forwarding for 30 seconds
  • turn to target again, and decrease speed to 1C

So far my own statics for HGE spawn rate (vs other type USSes) are:
  • Civil Unrest: 10%
  • Outbreak: 5%
  • War: 20%
  • (Fed) Boom/None: varied from 15% to 30% (recorded in Deciat)
