you have a similar setup to me except I have regular shields. and for me it was 2 cobra mkIII
 
Pls take a look at my video, I have plenty of other videos going up against Elite NPC's. I even have a video taking on 2 Anacondas, in that one I had to run in the end, I still managed to drop one Anaconda's shield and get its hull to 60%. This is all in a T9, no I have the videos to prove it.

Configure the ship correctly, go FA-OFF, keep pips to shields and pummel them. High wake if it get's too hot.

777Driver - no disrespect intended here; but that video is from Beta game play. Have you been interdicted by an NPC in a Fed Assault Ship in 2.1 (live) yet? They have been given a bit of a polish, to say the least

youre joking right? are you not reading the posts after posts of A Rated Pythons getting shredded in seconds?

It's true. I fly a A class Python and I had a fight with a NPC Cobra III and he took my shields down in seconds and he was using upgraded weapons. Normally he wouldn't have stood a chance.

Also, there is a surprising number of threads and videos in which Pythons are being instantly shredded by NPCs. I'm not in a position to try the 2.1 release version yet but in the last couple of betas I was exclusively flying a jack-of-all-trades Python. And while I had a few scrapes and forced high-wake escapes it was nothing like I've seen in some of those videos. It almost looks as though some combinations of engineer-modded NPC hardware are triggering a damage bug in the Python in 2.1. A defensively built T9 might actually be the safer option at the moment.

Yes - lots of concerns over the AI. I had some scraps last night in a Nav Beacon and whilst tougher, it was more satisfying. I was interdicted by a Python in my FDL - again, was a bit of a scrap, but helped out by some friendly cops. He managed to get my shields down to the last ring. On the other hand, my brother was in his Asp - interdicted by an FAS; and the FAS obliterated him in 10 seconds; shields down, thrusters offline, boom!

I guess you talk about PRE- HORIZONS 2.1. Sure, you will not manage this again in 2.1 this way.

The videos I have are from beta 6 and the live server.

@Suicidal Tendencies - I haven't been interdicted by a FAS, Op was talking about a Dropship, hence why I posted that video. Only ships I have been in combat with so far is a Elite FDL/Clipper/Cobra/Eagle/Asp scout - Two Anaconda's.

Haven't flown my Python yet in live, just been doing smuggling & hauling in the T9. what I'm seeing atm is 1v1 is a non issue in a freighter, more than one high ranked NPC and it's time to high wake. This is the same freighter build I have used in Open for the past 8 months.

edit - Btw, what are the AI difficulty changes since beta 6 & Live? I am not seeing any major differences so far.

NPCs have had the a virtual years of access to the Engineers and we have had days.

It is no wonder that you got munched.

However I have been reliably informed by a moderator that the NPCs access to engineering is to be lost in the huge megathread discussing the AI matter rather than for the engineers section. If it were really an AI matter then the NPCs would have been slowly carrying out their AI engineering in the background sim.

However because the ships that destroyed you were just defaulted to high engineered weapons and did not get them though AI task effort this really is an engineers matter.
 
Interesting. I'm currently mining in my python at 20 Ophiuchi. Will be interesting to see how easily I die. Especially funniy because I'm also sitting on some 20mil credits worth of exploration data in addition to anything else I do... :p

Yes, exactly this. +1 .... it is the AI access to advanced weapons that needs a balance pass, rather than the AI skill level.
 


Three hours of mining in my Python on Jura 7 Pristine Metallic ring gone in 15 seconds by a Federal Drop Ship NPC. "There you are and your nice load". I drop out of SC to try to evade. Then he drops out right behind me and in 15 seconds, my shields are down and in another 15 seconds my hull is gone. I was on my way to Jura 2 to sell my 3 hours of mining - Painite 18 tons, plus 110 other pristine metals and some I haven't even heard of before, GONE!!!

I'm not happy, no sir. FIX THIS FDEV. I PAID FOR THE WHOLE RIDE, $180 FOR EVERY EXPANSION AND EVERY SEASON AND I AM NOT HAPPY IN THE LEAST. I am an explorer and a miner, not looking for a shoot'em up.

More than enough time for you to either jump out or drop the NPC some of your cargo.

You had a chance. You should have dropped some of your cargo. The AI leaves you alone now after you do that.

Is there a hot key for dumping specific portion of the cargo? Seems that people will be toasted when they are fiddling with cargo panel. :rolleyes:

Sit still, the AI usually wont engage you until you start to try and fly off. If you have a feeling you are being scanned and you are defenseless just stop when being scanned and drop some cargo when they ask for it.
 
Something very odd about all of the instakill complaints coming from Python owners. Not to mention that one video of a python being utterly destroyed in one volley from a vulture. Something's definitely bugged in the python defences, maybe someone typo'd their hull points and it's only got like 10.

Nah, a sidewinder punched through my shields (Yes, a lowly sidewinder vs. my sturdy python) and scratched me to 99% hull. So there's definitely more than 10 hit points.

Should have equipped more defensive equipment and try to drop some of your cargo, since the new AI actually take certain amount of cargo now.

But according to the frontier AI person it isn't broken. In fact I think she hinted it will only get worse for everyone.

Now mind you, I am all for more interesting AI. its the fringe things that are bothering me right now. Like random ranked NPCS popping in on you while you are just minding your own business. They have a few bugs and apparently are all in with the engineers for those mods.

Just letting you know, this appears to be exactly as Frontier wants it and also apparently how the majority of the gamers want it. I do sympathize. This isn't the same game I paid for I do kind of wish I hadn't bought the life time pass, but its done. Besides, maybe the bugs will get worked out. If not, there are other things to do.
