General / Off-Topic 3D Printed models

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this picture :)
I work at a 3D printing service and sometimes design some stuff during my lunch breaks.

Here is a picture of some rollercoaster tycoon assets from back in the days :)

Would be great to have a Gulpee 3D printed!

Ahah !!! Funny !

I you are able to make a 3D printed Gulpee Rex, just do it [big grin][big grin][big grin]

I've tried to reach out to the Marketing team of Planet Coaster (to see if they are interested in having their Gulpee 3D pritned), unfortunately never heard back :(

Wow! That looks very nice! [up] I especially like the iconic entrance and exit and the hamburger and soda stalls!

They're fab!

I've been telling myself and people who know me that I'm not gonna buy a 3D printer as in no way do I need one, or have any practical use for one.

However, I love making stuff and I did squeak a little when I saw your fantastic models. I can't. I'd never get through my friends gloating if I do. So if I do get one, I'm blaming you Jettu lol.

Please make more and keep showing them here. I love this stuff. 😂

Ha, thanks!

There is no need to own your own printer.
All my prints are done on the big industrial sized 3D printers, these colored prints are printed (in color) using a Zcorp 650, not your average cheap desktop 3d printer.

The prints themselves didn't cost me more than $10 per ride.
(if you're interested, have a look at www.shapeways.com if you ever want to 3D print something on industrial sized 3D printers from plastic to gold)

I would never get any work done if I was working there. I'd be making all sorts of random stuff all day !

That's the very item I want as real-life merchandise. Sorry for hijacking this thread but I made a thread about real life goodies.

But Jettu, if you made this, I'd have your babies. And I'm a guy so it could get awkward.......I'm never gonna live this down am I? Lol

Thanks all,

Maybe Brett or Zac reads this topic and gets us in touch with the right people.
In my email a few months ago I told them Shapeways would be happy to sponsor a print for them so they can see it with their own eyes :) (regarding printing Gulpee)

Perhaps check this out.

I realise it's to become a licensee for Elite: Dangerous merchandise but I expect they'll be able to answer your query if you wanted to do some official merchandise from Planet Coaster.

Well I'm not after me making money on their assets, but would rather get them to sell it.

Not sure if you've heard about Kerbal Space Program?
A few years ago I reached out to KSP and asked them if they are interested in 3D printing their "kerbals".
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/kerbalspaceprogram

I explained them how the process works, users (anyone!) can set up a shop on Shapeways and sell their 3D models.
Shapeways will do the printing and shipping to customers.
On top of the production costs (that go to Shapeways) the shopowner (Kerbal Space Program in this example) can add markup which Shapeways will pay to the ShopOwner.

So if something costs $5 to print and the owner wants to get $10, the customer will have to pay $15 to Shapeways, which will then be split and the shopowner receives his share ($10).
KSP was enthusiastic about it and opened a shop, getting them some more revenue.

Hopefully Frontier would make that step in the future too :)
It's a nice way to sell some 3D printed merchandise without having to do anything (except for uploading the 3D files and add markup to the products)

That's Kerbal model is awesome. I'm sure it'd be a great money spinner for Frontier if they went into partnership with Spaceways to produce officially sanctioned 3D models of both Elite: Dangerous and Planet Coaster. [cool]

Ha yeah, i have most kerbals here on my desk :)

Although I normally 3D print miniature trains, a few years ago i made another iconic computer game figurine:

WORMS :D

Cheers,
Mitchell

ps. I reached out to Brett, unfortunately no reply yet

At a guess, given the same is true for Elite; I imagine you are okay to print objects for your own personal use but not for selling them.

I am sure Brett C can clear it up though.
