65000 Ly from Sol Club, thread the fourth

I'm planning to revive this Club and also take the BP 48 hour challenge under the umbrella of the Buckyball Racing Club's standing challenges - as many of you will already know, I've been looking after our A* Challenge for a number of years since Drakhyr stopped visiting the forums.

I'm doing this with the full knowledge and blessing of Iain, who no longer wishes to curate this challenge, and probably with a little help from time to time from @Dr_Chives - it was Dr_Chives who asked if anyone from the BRC fancied taking over curating here and also made sure that we weren't stepping on Ian's toes.

So:
  1. I'd like to thank @iain666 for the fantastic job that he has done over the last six years, keeping the challenge running while the game has changed dramatically.
  2. Just in case anyone strongly objects to me looking after the challenge: If you feel that you'd be a better cmdr for the job, then speak now or forever hold your peace.
  3. If nobody else takes over the reins, then I should have a brand new fifth version of this thread up and running during the first two weeks of June - I'm off work 28-May to 12-June, so that seems a good time to get the new thread posted.

The rules, evidence, etc of the 48h challenge will remain exactly as before - although as I'm a Buckyball racer I'll also knock together a leaderboard to run alongside the current chronological list. I'll also be providing an entry form (using a Google form) in order to semi-automate administration.

As the Google form should make it much easier to keep the lists up-to-date, I'm also almost certainly going to reopen the original 65k from Sol Club - albeit as a new "age of tourism" era or something. I'll even add a "Tourist list" for anyone who made use of Fleet Carriers for part or all of their journey.

The entry form will handle sorting of racers, explorers and tourists into three groups:
  • The 48 Hour Club - for those who travelled exclusively by piloting their own non-FC starship in less than 48 hours.
  • The 65k from Sol Club - for those travelled exclusively by piloting their own non-FC starship, regardless of time taken.
  • The Beagle Point Visitor's Book - for those who made it to B.P. no matter how they got there.
Evidence will continue to be via screenshots posted to the thread (either this thread or the TBD version 5 thread), and other than the necessary screenshots will continue to be completely honour based.

I'll collect all the details from this thread of trips to BP since Iain closed the 65k Club on 31-AUG-306 and add them to the list, so if you made the trip, but didn't post here because the Club was closed, then post whatever details or screenshots you can here and I'll also add you. There's obviously a gap of nearly 4 years there, so I'll trust you rather than requiring hard evidence for trips made between 31-AUG-3306 and today (15-MAY-3310).

A great result without optimization :)
Is there any way to optimise the ship further?

I know the route could be improved by utilizing the actual max range for every jump instead of the default values (and not doing 5-20ly jumps after refueling), basically pre-planning the route yourself with constant re-routing of the Neutron Router's path.
But I'm not sure if it's better to have more fuel for less frequent Refuel-Repair stops or more Jump range.

I use the galaxy plotter. What I found was that adding fuel capacity was better up to one point and then started to be detrimental. I think my record run was done with 84 tons of fuel. I haven’t tried to optimize again since I did it. If I remember well, my route had 232 jumps. But you can find the details in this thread.

I tried to start a run several times in the last week, but kept being killed by Mr. Mauve Adder. It’s nice that the servers behaved well for you.

I had constant Mauve Adders and 2 min load times per jump while I was scouting this route last week.
But today the load times were good and I only had one Black Adder crash while making this run.

Just noticing this thread ... Holy interstellar, 65,000 ?!?!?!! And here i was feeling all cool being out on my very 1st 5000 LY journey 👨‍🚀 ( for 'Palin' unlock ) .
Much respect CMDRs!
Questions though: How do u guys carry enough materials to survive that long & far of a trip? Most mats cap out at like 150 or 300, no? Also, if you run out of FUEL way out there, do the 'Fuel Rats' even go rescue out that great of a distance? Or are there a few Asteroid-Stations way out there?

A speed run needs about 50 of each jumponium mat. And fuel rats are known by their ability to reach anywhere in the galaxy! But if you’re on a speed run and you abort… easiest is to just self destroy :) but you should f definitely go out there at least once and visit beagle, and Ishum’s Rest

First few trips into the void are the hardest. After you get some engineering done it becomes a breeze. With G5 on everything and Neutron Boosts, the Colonia (22kly from Sol) can be reached in ~60 jumps.

An SRV and a mining laser will cover any material needs, and a fuel scoop is enough for infinite refueling. For repairs you should have at least 2 AFMUs for Modules and a limpet controller with repair capability for Hull. But even if you can't repair the ship yourslef, there are still a lot of Carriers and stations (at least on the way to Colonia) out there.

I think the Fuel Rats provide Refuel-Repair-Resupply anywhere in the galaxy:
I was once stuck high above the Sag A* on the edge of the galaxy, where you can only get to with Jumponium - ran out of materials, didn't bring a mining laser, and there were no landable planets anywhere. A Fuel Rat helped me out by mining some asteroids for Jump-mats.

Finally the servers cooperated and I managed to do a speed run from the bubble to Beagle Point with the new Mandalay. 99.29 Ly range, departing from Love Orbital in Latugara at 15:38.38 and arriving to Beagle Point at 19:12.26, for a total travel time of
3h33m48s
This beats the previous best time, set in a Jumpaconda, which was 3h44 and change. With four unexpected drops from SC, a fair number of long transitions and a few mistakes (I hadn't done this since the 3h44 run), all in all it was great to be able to arrive after just a bit more than three and a half hours.

I know the thread is not being updated anymore, but I will post anyway.
Today I have finally reached Oevasy sg-y d0.
My journey actually started 5 years ago, in May 2020. I fully outfitted and engineered my T10 (not only for exploration, but for it to be able to withstand random player attacks.). This resulted in 41.5 ly jump range. After a few months, I reached Sag A*. I got burned out of the game, and didn't play for the next 4 and a half years.
Finally, in March of this year, I got the bug to play again and finish the journey. Here we are, in May 2025, and I finally reached the destination.

On this journey all the jumps were made by my 41.5ly T10, and none with FCs.
I did use FCs to sell exploration data on 3 occassions between Sag A* and Ishum's reach.
Here are the stats at the beginning of the journey, and at the end:

Being at the edge of the galaxy and staring into the intergalactic void is a special feeling.
I will definitely stay here for a while before heading back home.
