A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

i was just checking the local news at palins research center for obvious reasons, and saw that "the anthill mob" expanded from maia to cooper research/HIP 19072 - and yes, they are in that system. which makes an expansion of 40+ ly. i will head over and check whther cooper research expanded even more.

Do you know if FDev might have injected this one by hand?
Like - was there a bug report of a set of complaints that they had nowhere to expand to.

OR

Is this an example of what happens when an expansion fails and then the faction goes to Investement?
If so - do we have any other examples of long range expansion after Investment?

Is there any way to look who is wining a civil war?, how much time until the end of it? such stast?
Look at the influence percentages for each faction in the conflict. The outcome of wars and civil wars is determined by the influence - the gap needs to be, iirc, 7% for a war and 3% for a civil war.

i think so. cooper research doesn't have cartographics, and didn't expand (till now). obsidian orbital and darnielles progress (anthill mob) have a cartographics, they went into expansion and investment.

might be an exampel of what happens, if you don't sell any cartographics data during investment.

one could look at the other systems at the edge of the bubble, like new yembo. maybe we find another exampel of longrange expansion.

What is the current minimum threshold for a faction to trigger a war or civil war? Is it 7% for both?

We're trying to engineer a takeover of two outposts in our system by helping two foreign factions take them, then forcing them into retreat.

It's the crafty ones you need to keep your eye on. :p

We've discussed doing that as well in systems where we don't want to drop influence to take smaller stations. Still not convinced it's working as intended to Retreat from a system when you own a station...

To answer your question though, I personally think it's right around 7.2 - 7.3% for War and Civil War, but I haven't been able to confirm that in 2.1 yet. Lowest confirmed conflict trigger I have since 2.1 is 7.6%

So my group is fighting a war, today the war ended according to galnet, the galaxy map shows state of war, the system map shows NO war, the faction A won, faction A has 2% influence, and nobody fighting for that side as far as we are aware, faction B (ours) have 22% influence and lost.

whats happening? I dont get it, and Im starting to get frustrated.

We fought this war to END the war state for the Faction A so we could enter war in another system, where the faction A owns the station with 22% influence, and the faction C (our real faction) is 67% and no war or coup has triggered.

    is happening?

Wait one more tick.

The system states take a tick to update, even though a war may seem to have been concluded.

How many ticks a day happen? does war and civil war have cooldown?

There's only 1 tick per day, but we've seen the tick happen and then a correction happen about 15 minutes later. Influence and states might be wrong if you check it too close to the tick.

War and Civil War have no cool down time.

Then I cant understand why we didnt entered a war state as soon as faction A ended his war in other system. :( really frustrated.

... they don't have a cooldown, but they have a countdown. did you get war/ civil war pending?

and: tick - war ended - next tick: new war pending

Thanks, No, the War in the system just ended, so according to what you say, sunday will be New war pending, and monday will be War with my faction right?

EDIT: and why we lost the war in the other system? Faction A was 2% influence while the side we fought for was 22% at the end!!

Usually if I can't get a conflict pending when a blocking one finishes it's because one of the factions involves started a conflict in another system that I didn't spot they were in. Also you know it has to be pending for 3 days before it goes active?

22 vs 2 is a win for the first faction. What makes you think you lost the war?

Galnet news saying that the faction with 2% won the war :(

FYI, I have just had 2 factions go pending war at 7.1% each.

I also have a system where 2 factions have been at 6.8% for 3 days now and no pending war.

What if 2 factions are at pending civil war at 7.1% and you start raising influence of one of them? civil war happens anyway? what happend?

When a state goes pending, it's going to happen. There is a 3 day countdown and during that time I could get it to 13.2 Vs 1 so that when the war starts it's already won but then I will still have to wait out the minimum 3 days of war.
