A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

Thank you

So basically if you overshoot the equalization band (equal or 5% over) you can just keep pushing until you hit 60%?

I believe you can't overshoot under normal circumstances. Overshoot means that at least one faction is in conflict (or pending\recovering) in another system.

I can confirm that 60% is the trigger for system control conflict, checked several days ago.

Actually, overshooting is still possible. We managed to do it (completely unwanted and unexpected) just this week, and again a few weeks before that. No blocking conflicts elsewhere, we just pushed too hard. In "normal circumstances" you probably won't, just be sensible about what you're doing.

Bounty Hunter Report

currently doing some bgs bounty hunting test.

first conclusion:
- bounty hunter report lists the value of all bounties claimed in the last 24 hours
- number of bounty claimed does count transactions, not ships/single bounties. so if you claim 500 k in bounties from shooting 7 wanted ships in one transaction, report will list this as 1 bountie claimed.

influence decay/minor faction type

we do know influence decay (high influence decaying without player interaction)

a) did somebody worked out any structure of those target-"values", for exampel by goverment types? /me thinks there are fixed sets...

b) is there such a value for player backed minor factions?

Hi someone mentioned on another thread that there is an automatic threshold that starts civil wars.

Even if your favored factions overshoots the controlling factions influence, it is possible to trigger a civil war by pushing your favored faction to 60% or 70%.

Can someone confirm that this is true and which figure is correct 60% or 70%?

Thanks

60% triggers war/civil war/election state
70% grants you victory if any of the above states occur.

So doing trade type missions prolongs a Boom?

I believe yes, it does extend.
We experienced a 28 days boom last time, and it was hell. After conquer a sistem and expand to another, our faction entered a boom again today. I asked everybody to stop missions, and I'm trying to carry only rares to one of our systems to make high profits rates fast. I read somewhere donations missions helps to decrease boom faster.

We will test the war method to end the boom as we have a 65% influence system with war pending.

It was 70% for a long time, more recent reports suggest it is now 60%. I don't think we've had a system we've captured through that route for quite a while though, so I can't confirm from personal experience. But we are now assuming 60% to be the war for control trigger.

My two recent experiences suggest 70%,,, war didn't become pending until 70%, and I sat in the 60-70% area for a couple days.

On an aside, has anyone ever conquered a system with a war caused by equalization? I've never seen that happen or reported by anyone else, only by the 60/70% trigger

We triggered war pending in a system 2 days ago with 63,1% influence.

I started a war on 5th March with equal influence (31.0%) that ended on the 9th March with my faction taking control of the only outpost and the system. The only other asset in the system is a settlement owned by another faction. Influence at the end of the war was 39.4% vs 22.5%.

Heres a small idea foe 2.1 if Fdev can get around to it in time

When a minor faction expands, can we please in the related automatic news article that goes up explaining that expansion has happened please please please list which system the faction has expanded to ( this will make things so much easier)

I have been involved in 3 wars/cw, all triggered by equalising and not the 60/70% trigger and captured 2 systems in the process.

War definitely ends a Boom

Even better, why not access to a list of all systems in which any faction has a presence? It's quite common to find the trigger isn't pulled on a conflict simply because one of the factions is involved in actions in an unknown location.

Yes it really does!!!! Our boom lasted only one day as war started today with our faction at 64.2% influence.

+1 rep Sir. It really would be great, last time we expanded to a system noboby was expecting, I had to check like a dozen systems before I find the right one.

Does that imply that you can only have one war/cw running at a time...... hence you can jump what would normally trigger a war?

The 'Missing CZ' bug allows you to do any missions for your faction to bring down the opposition. In other words, keep doing what you were doing before war was declared to raise your faction to the required threshold for victory.

Does the % claimed come from only your opposition in the war in this instance or from any faction (mainly the leading faction) as under normal non war circumstances?

Hello CMDRs,

Small question about trading and influence:

- buying in a station will increase influence of faction owning this station
- selling in a station will decrease influence of faction owning this station

Is this correct ?

Yes: Buying from a station does increase its influence.
No!: Selling in wanted commodities (only the items normally on their commodity list) will increase their influence as well. selling NOT wanted items, up until a few weeks ago, reduced their influence but now has NO effect either way. A rares test that we did yesterday in 3 separate systems (bearing in mind they are an unwanted item) did increase their influence in line with previous tests with any other commodity, so it would seem that rares are tagged as a wanted commodity anywhere.
