A lazy boys guide to travelling to jumping home from Jaques

Does this sound like you? "I rather enjoyed the trip out to Jaques, but I've done my fair share of the mining CG and it's time to go home. Thing is, I hate the return leg of exploration trips and want it to be over as soon as possible."

Well, that's how I felt so I just teleported back to the bubble!

Now all services are online at Jaques I sold all my exploration data, then sold all my ship modules, bought a Sidey, sold my Asp, launched and hit self destruct. I then picked the free sidewinder option on the insurance screen and it teleported back to LHS 3447 with all my money, experience and even my contribution to the mining CG intact! I'm now sat back at my home system, back in my Clipper, ready to have some fun! All it cost me was 32,000c, the cost of selling my Asp hull and a class 4 FSD upgrade. Bargain!

I know I'm a bad Cmdr but I don't care, I just saved 22kly worth of jump honk!

MOTHER FRACKER, I just got back with the 6E fuel scoop + 7 3C Fuel tank option. GODAMNIT FRONTIER!

To attached to my Imperial Cutter for doing that, TordenSkjold is also modded, so that's definitely a no. Have CMDR's in the bubble, so not in any big hurry to get back. Also want to there to greet the imminent Thargoids.

Then you self destruct your sidewinder & at the rebuy screen take the option to start back in a starter sidewinder at the starter system....with only a small credit loss.
Ah, I'm an idiot and of course you're right. I'd forgotten that option existed and completely misinterpreted the OP. I'd forgotten you can effectively "start over" but with your rank and other stuff intact.

This has been discussed before. If you intend to move to the new bubble, it is how you can get all your ships out there. Fly ship out, park it, self-destruct a sidewinder to get back to the main bubble, get second ship, travel out... rinse, repeat until done.
.
At this point, it would be the only way I could think of to get all your ships out there (in a timely manner), if that is in fact what you wanted to do.

Pretty sure if you don't collect a CG payout at station you still get it credited after a couple of weeks or a month or something. As for staying to help with the mining, I've handed in 240t of Osmium all mined rather slowly in my ex-Asp, I feel I've done my bit for now, might come back to Jaques in the future if events make it feel worth the trip out again.

8 weeks

Must be less than that, since I left for Jaques with an uncollected CG and meanwhile it's gone from my transactions tab and the money is in my account.
Not sure exactly when that happened, though, since the trip to Jaque's took me 12 days and I'm on my 5th day travelling back.

Wouldn't even have hurt me to use the sidey option, since I'm trucking it in an un-modded T6, but you miss so much exploration data during that trip (and I don't see me trodding around the galaxy later just to get that), that going back by hand is the nicer option ... and of course I'd hate to be replaced with that Clone I have back in the bubble. Even if he's pretty identical, there's something wrong with him. He likes Black Pudding. <.<

Great idea, but do you lose all you ships or just the one you self destructed?
Just the one you self destruct, so if you buy a 32,000c sidey that's what it cost you (assuming you handed in all UC data and bounties) you keep everything else. Just decide if you want to leave your main ship at Jaques or sell it.

Sounds like the Star Trek transporter, every time you step into one you're killed and an identical clone is created at the destination. Bones was the only one suspicious...

The modules aren't great, though - I could just about set up a decent mining T6 using the ones available.

I was checking modules out too. Mostly Es and Ds. Not bad for puttering about that area of space but you wouldn't want to trade the ship you brought with you.

Good technique. We could call it the Jumping Jaques Flash.

Maybe if enough commanders do it, the station will build up a sufficient stock of larger ships and modules to expand the shipyard and outfitting selections.

Not an idiot ;)
I had to double check before I posted as I am sure, like me, most of us just select our nice expensive ship :D from the rebuy screen ..instead of even considering the "start over" option so to speak (keeping your ranks, permits, & progression ...just lose the current ship you were in when you died) ...so most of us probably forget about it over time :)

iClippexplorer I use has got high level mods left right and centre.

Think I'll fly it back ;)

ALL the screenshots, anyone?

I predict a Frontier Development unintended gameplay adjustment.

I predict the ne'er-do-well thought police / UA-abombers may just go after Jacques next because it isn't "fair gaming"

UA-abombers - cause everyone needs to play by their rules.

Great thread!

I hope by doing that you didn't end up here:
