I think that FD could definately make some income by selling ships in the store. Yes there would be some moaning but there would also be people who never come ot the forums who would just spend their money. Imagine premium ships with locked loadouts. This would give FD complete control over these ships and what they could be used for. Now some might say that im just pushing my agenda and want the old ADS back and i cant deny it, but these ships dont all have to be tailored for exploration. Im not going to touch on PVP or mining cause i dont do those things.
For example.

This applys particularly to the krait cause it even sais its a patchwork ship. I beleive there is a market for this kind of thing. Take a look at mechwarrior online, look how they milked their mech line, FD could be getting in on some of this altho i certainly dont recommened using them as a role model, it would be a way to bring the many old ships that people request into the game in a controlled way. I would pay for this kind of thing and i believe others would aswell.

The main thing to watch out for is that you're not suckered into buying one of the early models, which don't benefit from the vastly improved plastiglass hull. This critical improvement gave the ship the toughness to survive the rigours of space and its remarkable lightness gives the thrusters far less work to do. If you're buying a Cobra Mk 1 in an outlying system, make absolutely sure you buy the newer version. The old one is fit only for flying into stars.

An out-of-production spacecraft produced by Faulcon DeLacy and one of its earliest designs. The Krait once led the field in small scale fighter craft - faster, more agile, and more heavily armed than most of its rivals, the design sold in the millions. Now the Krait is largely obsolete. It remains a heavily armed fighter for its size, but its sluggish speed and sub-standard manoeuvrability make it vulnerable to escort fighters and modern police ships. Kraits are still found in the poorer and more anarchic parts of the galaxy - most are a hodgepodge of old and new technology cobbled together. In combat, the Krait is often paired off against larger ships, such as the Cobra and Asp, who match the tiny ship in manoeuvrability, but who remain vulnerable to the Krait's impressive weaponry.
