A new update/DLC coming soon?

Yeah, the DLC model will never please me. I get what you mean with lack of development. As much as I love every DLC and think they are fair priced, for me a DLC should always bring something game changing, new and fresh to the game. What we currently do with the DLCs is collecting animals (and buiilding pieces), so there is a constant longing for more, because the game has basically no other fresh things to explore.
And no, while I think the free updates are pretty generous, the features added are not really what I consider a game changer. So far, almost every addition was only an impulse to build different, but didn't change gameplay at it's core.
Exactly, and that is why I'm getting frustrated with each new dlc. 😒

Speaking only for myself, but I play for the management and animals. Never played sandbox and certainly never will because I find it boring. Building something is nice but I consider it secondary to managing a zoo. Management could use ALOT of improvements, especially in Challange mode.
I agree, I'm currently building a realistic zoo at the moment in Franise and the management and animal side of the game is so lacking. Which is so disappointing and the fact the DLC's add nothing or improve those factors

Then may i ask, what management features would you like to see? I know that i would be interested in the unique ways animal personalitys could shift the experience and make you have to addapt, but besides that being what feels like a pipedream, that thing alone wouldnt make me interested in the management aspects.
Some problems that side has is that its way to fast, nothing has meaning, as i always have enough money and i can get attachted to animals that are dead after what feels like 10 mins, the game doesnt insentivse interesting management for the building with things like some animals needing to be seperated at times or similar, like when an elephant bull gets musth, because these mechanics are A) not in the game, and B) could all be cheesed with the trade center. Because of its nature of the game, most of the complex and interesting question a zoo has to ask are simply ignored, because if they wernt most players would just ignore them. Another example, lets say we need to actually have food arrive at our zoo through something like a special building and another were its stored. Would that add more management to the game? Sure, but wouldnt it just make things more tedious?

My respect to everyone who plays this game for management, cause no thanks, that sucks and i honestly wouldnt know how to improve it without taking like 5 steps back everytime in quality of life. I dont see this as management or challange, its just tedious and annoying, so going sandbox was the best decision i made in this game. And mind you i normally really like management sims, but this game simply isnt one. Its a building game, where you build a pretty zoo for pretty animals and you might even let the ugly guests look at them, with some light management systems attachted to it. I dont want to roast or bash either the game or anybody with this, its just my honest opinion that i honestly do understand your frustration with the games. Im sorry to hear it, i feel ya, but i would bet that it wont get better, or atleast not by much

On the topic of the next DLC, hearing various things about the San Diego connection, could it mean that it isn’t North American animals but San Diego Zoo animals? I have no idea or preference but it could be interesting.

If the animals are based on San Diego zoo the hopefully that means more realistic real life zoo props and ect

That's the idea. I hope that we get more generic zoo pieces with this DLC again. If they do it well, we might not even need many more building pieces after this, specially if they make some of the current pieces/building sets flexicolor.
The whole menu is getting a bit overwhelming tbh, even when you filter stuff.

Better management, including meaningful animal personalities that actually ADD to the management (see the thread I did about this) would not drive me away from sandbox, but turning management on in sandbox. (I can't stand the anaimal market in challenge mode and franchise. )

I would think something along the lines of JWE2 rangers.. but less drama lol. First person manual feeding, maybe even handfeeding, vet inspection, etc. I would love to be working IN my zoo, not above it. Its what made me able to spend hours and hours playing one zoo in ZT2. Doing tasks in the zoo, controlling a keeper, not just clicking a button.

For me each DLC has added something new and game changing (game expanding is game changing). - Each so far has added a whole new region or substantially filled out an existing region and most have added build pieces so that I can make new zoo areas and new zoos with different animals than i’ve used before…. More variation IS game changing because it means that each zoo doesn’t have to be a carbon copy of the last. Each DLC gives the game new life. I need new animals AND I need new build pieces - I don’t play the game for management, I play to build / explore the animals. If I have an issue it’s that I would love more stuff more often.

The problem is that there are groups of players that play the game for different reasons. Since its a sisters game to Planet Coaster, the building makes an important part of the gameplay, however the game itself was advertised as a management sim first and foremost, yeh somehow I feel like the DLCs mostly carter to the building folks.

I guess these groups of players will never be in agreement of what the game needs the most, so arguing is really pointless. Ideally DLCs would keep the new pieces (even slightly less of them but more meaningful ones like zoo probs would be great) and new interesting gameplay stuff.

Examples could be:
How about a way to create non-animal exhibitons? Stuff like minerals, tree trunks which showcase annual rings, animal skeletons, rare plants to showcase to your guest...etc. These could count as both building pieces, while they would offer guests education while they look at them. Restrict those items somehow so you cant get them as easily in challenge mode and bam, you finally have some goal to unlock.

Or the already mentioned animal personalities - these would force you to replan your zoo if you for example got a tiger that cant stand any other ones etc. Challenges similar to those in ZT2 - Look, an unexpected delivery of rescued elephant! You did not plan to have an elephants in your zoo, but you can save it so you accept it and it would force you to change your plans and finally add some deeper gameplay.

Even make the god damn STAR system worth something in challenge mode - right now your first animal can be a giant panda...thats....boring because you dont have any reason to want a better star ratings if you can get all animals without any effort.

Really I could go on, there are still alot of possibilities for more gameplay.

Not only does it feel like dlc are catered towards the building community...but it feels like the content creators on youtube all talked about how bored they were with animal packs (my favorite pack since I want animals in my underhwleming zoos) and how they NEED scenery and building pieces to make new content (something that doesn't affect me in ANY way) And it feels like PZ caved into that very vocal minority of influential content creators and went back to the garbage 4+1 packs.

Honestly, I don't know about all of them, but it kinda shows a lack of creativity, if that's the case.

I'm always mixing and matching the pieces to have a unique architecture style, we've seen it in the workshop, in the creations section. I'm inspired by what we have. Example: I recently discovered that I can sort of recreate a southwest US/Mexico theme by using things like plaster, changing the color on whatever I can, and I have to admit when I found out I can change the bathroom tile to look like this:

I got real excited

when the SEA pack was released it was made very clear that they would keep producing mixed animal/build packs as well as animal-only packs. Saying they’ve ‘caved’ to the content creators implies that they’ve changed their plans, but they’ve done exactly what they said they would… there will be more animal-only packs but it won’t be all (or most) of them, at least for a while. How is releasing packs that are 50% animal-based and 50% build pieces catered towards just the build community? Isn’t 50:50 pretty balanced?
