Damn. And I thought I got that message because I was special.
I was just thinking these messages would seem more special if they were only handed out to players who tend to do the data hacking missions.
And maybe for more immersion players who tend to go after other players get a mysterious message to go after the players following up on the other message.
Yeah that might mean some players get left out, but those being left out would likely be those who would avoid these types of missions in the first place. And maybe FDev could come up with special messages for those players latter.
Like those who tend to do smuggling missions often get a message for a smuggling job that's not available on the mission boards. And other players get a message to go after those players.
Traders could get a special request for rare commodities. Explorers could get a request to find an escape pod in a nearby star system while they're away from the Bubble. That sort of thing. Some play styles may need more thought put into this sort of thing though...
But to me at least I don't have much motivation to follow through on this message. Mostly because by the time I can do anything about it many other players have already completed it and some of them possibly posted about it in the forums. Also the fact that everyone gets these messages make them seem a bit less important IMO.
Although now that I'm thinking about it some of what I'm thinking would have to be done in Open only, and that would get people who don't like that style of gameplay against this idea. Plus people who avoid PvP wouldn't be too keen to accept missions that potentially send other players after them. But this would add a little more depth to the game.
