Also, what's up with the codex... I didn't find those logs there... But it's the exact time (one of them, the transfer receipt, is on the codex alright, with the correct timestamp).

The codex has been bugged for years. Usually you will scan some logs and some completely different text will appear in the codex, but with the correct timestamps and audio logs attached (if any). It can ruin a lot of mysteries by giving away locations / story points if you're trying to follow those things organically so best not to look in there.

The actual logs for the "Inside Man" story can be found by locating a listening post in Tseen Foo, which points to two more listening posts, which combined point to a fourth system with an abandoned settlement (and the logs). It very likely has nothing to do with the current story, unless there's some really obscure link that hasn't been explained.

I'm contacting you after a recommendation from the Pilots' Federation about your suitability for a sensitive task.
We're currently investigating a claim regarding the history of Rackham Investments CEO, Zachary Rackham made by Bryanna Blanco of the Federal Times. Our findings relate to a long-standing rumour that Zachary Rackham once operated as a notorious pirate known as Calico Zack.
We believe we've found information on an old crewmate of Zack's: Angelo Defries. It appears that Defries disappeared around 3992 in mysterious circumstances.
We have obtained a security access code assigned to him at the time, and believe was last used in the Zeta Trianguli Australis system.
I've uploaded the code with this message. Go to Zeta Trianguli Australis and look for clues. We believe Calico Zack's gang preferred remote, unregistered surface settlements to conduct their business. The system has any the search may take a while
We'll monitor use of the security access code and contact you if anything useful is revealed.
