A Year of Anarchy In Colonia

The Mode we play in is Open, nothing new there.

However, finding a Squadron that doesn't just haul various stuff to various places is key. Finding people with flair and vision, people who care about the lore, the narrative and are willing to create their own is paramount. I have been lucky enough to find some of these people and share in their vision, narrative and love for the game and all the ways it can be played.

I implore you to investigate your options, see what this game has to offer. Come to visit if you like, even if you end up only unlocking the engineers out here. It is still worth it in the long run.

There are many others that do the same, most are not as vocal publicly.

You're sure you play the same ED as I do? For what you say it seems totally different. While I do small jobs hauling various stuff from various stations for various and questionable income you seem to have a great time. Plots, schemes, tactics, influence, actions, achievements...

Again, is it some mode I'm not aware of?
It's called open 😜
A good squadron and friendlist helps...

Edit ninjas

Ended up in Colonia with my alt account just before Christmas, and the place was absolutely... deserted. There was no one, except for a certain Jesus whose light had a lot less healing effect than the light of the other one people talk about. Then they started stumbling in, one less drunk than the other, and now I got both my accounts out there. It's fun :)

There's still a lot to learn, and I'm sure I'm gonna put it all to good use, when I figure out how to get out of the reactor shaft that is...

O...o... <swallows hard> op... <c'mon, you can do this>... oppp...en? With other ... people??? But ... but... Naah.. you're kidding me, right? Right? No...? You serious? <cries>

What's that - I believe my copy of ED doesn't support that. <take a look> Yup, empty. <checks phone>... nope, no friends here. <cheks FB, Instagram, Twitter...> Who am I kidding, don't have those either :D

Ok, on a more serious note - I don't have gaming friends, no friends whatsoever to be clear. True lone wolf. In my past tried to get into, socialize but sooner than later it all died. I realized that the one that cared was me, rest was pretty much indifferent. At some point I stopped caring and even trying. Bad experience I guess. Plus I play casually, non regular style so it's difficult to coordinate and keep steady pace.

Now I'm good with it. Maybe one day I'll try something bigger and more involving but all the yearsw of solitary play made me weird. It feels bit awkward to play with someone else, someone I don't know. What to talk about, how to behave... Clinical example.

All right, self therapy done, good that others can organize themselves and engage with their self set goals and have loads of fun from it. Smile No.3 put on and off we go.

They can't, and thats the points. Its Anarchy, so you do what you want. It just turns out most share the same interests, but thats just coincidence :)

But apart from politics, its a bubble big enough for me. Place where you don't need a fuel scoop, engineering is a blast and you get to places like this (not my vid btw):

That's not strictly true. Anarchy does not mean Chaos.

I was the same before meeting these guys on Inara.

We have casual players that do their bit when they can and that's fine it is all coordinated with goals and objectives. We use discord for communications, we are a close knit group, our discord is more like a group of friends sharing life, laughs, games and more.

It takes time to integrate into a group, that's normal, you join a group and interact to see if they are a good fit for you and if you are a good fit for them.

All the more reason to come out to Colonia (Carcosa in particular) and make friends with Loren's Reapers - plenty of support if you want it, and always friendly - no pressure to achieve anything or do anything more than support The Nameless with any missions, exploration, trade... not exactly onerous :)

Even open in Colonia is currently unlike the bubble, more players per system than the bubble (simple maths!) but probably less risk :)

Come on out, say 'hello' then make up your mind if it is 'worth' the effort of getting there... It is a great trip regardless if you stay or not - but be prepared to be surprised (nicely)!

All right, I feel convinced. I've alreday been to Colonia once tho didn't stayed long. In few days I have a (hopefully) vacation trip and won't be around till the end of March. But starting of April I may appear more frequently. I've been planning re-visit anyway so it's a reason good as any other. Problem for me is that I have quite nice fleet but can take just one of them and wondering which one it'll be.

Need to do some reading about ships and modules available in Colonia before I take a hike.

Hello there, friends!

Your friendly neighborhood Phisto here taking a moment to reflect back on a very interesting year in the Colonia Nebula. You see, this month of March marks the anniversary of when a handful of scruffy ne'er do wells from the storied Loren's Legion decided to pack up their ships, their guns, and head on out in search of adventure. Taking the name Loren's Reapers they sought to continue their namesake's legacy through revolutionary action in the most distant frontier of human settled space.

And my, what an adventure it has been. We've made friends, enemies, and had more than our share of good times out of the lava world orbiting asteroid lair called Robardin Rock. Here's a few quick highlights, just to bring you up to speed.

1) Securing Carcosa for The Nameless. After a series of wars, all three stations were liberated in the name (ha get it) of glorious anarchist freedom. Even better, the Nameless' control of Robardin Rock unlocked Federal and Alliance ships for the nebula. A huge boon, no doubt!
2) The Nameless have expanded their presence to five systems, including control of Earth Expeditionary Fleet which unlocked the Imperial Eagle for sale.
3) Thanks to the efforts of our allies The New Order, the No Look Here Gang saw a period of prosperity in the Pennsylvania system. While they were recently overthrown by vile reactionaries and traditionalists, the fact they rose to power at all was a great victory for the Anarchist Bloc.
4) So. Much. Writing. As many of you know, our illustrious Matt Lehman likes to write fancy words about fancy things. His first chronicle of our adventures can be found here: Into The Black.

If you enjoyed that, then you'll probably like this next bit...

He should have it out before Fleet Carriers. :p

What else does the future hold? Hard to say. Villainous forces, bitter their choke hold on the Nebula was broken, still seek the overthrow of the Nameless. But have no fear, the Reapers and her allies are up to the challenge! One thing is for sure: the fun ourselves and so many others have had will continue. If you're looking to change up your game and see some sights, why not come out to Colonia?

Don't worry about shipping all your gear out here. I know a guy that can get you a pretty good deal on a used ship or two. Financing available. ;)

Always good to read about a good space adventure. Right on Commander!

I'd suggest something like a Krait II / Phantom as they are versatile mediums, both with reasonable jump range. Big fuel scoop, an AFMU or 2, SRV and enjoy the trip. Neutron Stars are aplenty if you want to speed up or jump less.

I'll follow your progress and try to be there to welcome you when you arrive :)

Among my fleet I have quickly picked:
  • Adder
  • Krait mk II
  • Clipper
  • Anaconda

After another quick consideration I scratched Clipper (made my first trip to Colonia in one), then Adder - tho mighty fine samall ship and respectable jump range - low and small inernal module count so not much versatility when on site. I have already kitted Exploraconda, ready to go but again - large ship so firther options limited and medium ship purchase required upon arrival.

Krait mk II left and Krait mk II it is.

When I get back from my IRL trip I'll try to remember to get you noticed when I'll depart and report progress. Until then - enjoy the peace while it lasts.

Take the most expensive one. They are usually the most expensive to transfer. Besides, with a guardian jump booster, you can even make an FDL jump.

Dont forget, to get to 2 (of the 4) engineers in Colonia you need an invite from an engineer in the bubble. Make sure you have these invites before you leave if you want to use them. Also, most things can be engineered to G4 and G5, but a few only to G3. Make sure you pin those G5 blueprint in the bubble that are G3 in Colonia, LOG OUT (👈 important) and log back in to see if the pin still sticks. It'll save you from doing the trip again (and again...)

You like beer or tea?

Not wishing to be too pedantic...

All 4 engineers in Colonia are accessed with invites gained by the 4 bubble engineers that are 'common knowledge' (Frontier did something right!) - Elvira, Todd, Liz and The Dweller provide the invitations at L3/4.

The rest I am 100% in agreement with 👍

It'll be my main in Carcosa - Ratkatcher - poor ol' Wayland is destined to be a bubble dweller for a very long time :)

Ugh, that would imply Cutter, can squeeze 50 LYs unladen from her. Tho not sure if I want to bring my enire fleet (or most useful) - rather would progress and build on site from what's available.

AS for the FDL - I like the looks of this ship, used it as a cargo mission runner (fun). Few weeks ago I outfitted her for exploration. Not good but not bad either. Planned on reaching Colonia in her but, sadly, lasted bit over 500 LYs. I know people went to Beagle in Sidewinders (admire resilience) ,want to go theremyself one day. But as much as I like FDL I'll probably take something else with more jump range.

Well, as I confessed earlier on different ocassion - I have only Felicity done. Yes, I know. 3 years of playing and just Felicity? First - it's off putting for me all those vague unlock requirements that require doing things i do not wish, do not like and not interested in. Second - for my generalplay style I do not need much engineering, I do not do combat, I focus on hauling and exploration. For that I have G5 FSD unlocked and guardian booster. I could use lightweight but gain from it desn't cover the effort put in obtaining it.

I'm not as concerned about engineers that skipping on invites would spoil the stay there.

You like beer or tea?

Actually both. Depends on situation.
Also dry red wine and occasional mead.

Ok, noted.
