About current game design...

The first thing someone who starts playing is to change the mouse to yaw instead of roll.

Mouse for yaw does not make any sense at all. Its not a car racing simulator or a first person shooter.

Yaw requires far less sensitivity than roll. And roll is far more useful for turning than yaw. That's why pretty much every single flight sim since ever has mouse do pitch and roll. And why every single aircraft uses the stick for pitch and roll.

I doubt even 1% of the players use mouse for yaw.

I use mouse for yaw, works like a charm. Handling fixed weapons efficiently.

With a little lateral thinking, putting yaw on the mouse makes perfect sense. You're not using a stick. Why not put the controls in a familiar format?

Exactly. And some ships (FGS for instance) have a very good yaw, almost as good as pitch; it's pretty intuitive to aim.

Because

Yaw requires far less sensitivity than roll. And roll is far more useful for turning than yaw.

Anyway, whatever float people's boat. That's why we have configurable controls.

I'm just addressing the OP stating roll on mouse as some kind of game defect, when its actually the standard in every single flight sim which allows mouse control.

Until today the default commands to play with mouse and keyboard is dysfunctional.

That's totally subjective, i've played with keyboard & mouse until recently, and i couldn't even think of having yaw on mouse instead of roll (i'm not much an FPS guy though, but the way ships respond to yaw, it wouldn't make sense to me).
