About that double-engineered FSD reward for the CG...

Was it known before CG or during CG that the reward FSD was gonna be that good?

Not sure whether I should blame fdev or myself for not trying to get one. :D
It was known it was going to be free stuff, free stuff is always worth going for.

Forum etiquette suggests you should blame FDev or at least one of the moderators.

Is it? I get maximum 82.34 LY for a DBX concurring with @Numenor1379's build, but still get 83.62 LY for an Anaconda with a conventional 6A FSD.
The DBX only being able to fit a size 4 Guardian booster still keeps it slightly slower.

(Might be slightly faster in the long run due to higher supercruise agility, though the low scoop size will also get it there ... the Phantom which can do agility and scooping is at 80.51 max, I think. It'd be interesting to see which of the three actually does end up fastest now)
Oh, you're right, double-checking my results, I made a typo with getting the double-engineered FSD into Coriolis.

Also, I just remembered that thankfully, Frontier didn't do a +55% * +15% * +4% Optimal Mass, but instead it's +70% * +4%. This means the current +76.8% Optimal Mass, instead of the +85.38% that could have been.

I think it'll go in my Phantom regardless of which is "best". That scoop in the DBX doesn't work for me.

If the next CG module is a "Double Rate" 4A fuel scoop then I'm in. (y)

Wonder how much this jump drive would help the Orca. Don’t have one yet, but it’s another which uses a size 5 FSD. Doesn’t it have a higher base mass?

I think Fdev has made a good decision changing to 75% contribution. In my experience it is unusual for developers to make changes like this to there games. As already mention it is a good way to acknowledge the input anyone that was making a reasonable effort towards this CG and a good way to compensate for those that got caught unaware of how soon the CG was closed off.

I think it does also promote well the fact that CGs are meant to be collaborative rather then competitive (excepting off course those after bragging rights in the to 10 cmdrs).

I do still feel bad for those that have missed out who perhaps would have made an effort had they known it was going to be 75% - but there is a difference to be seen between never bothered and those that tried.

I think it is also encouraging to think that the way things are developing into the future is that this modules may only be a preview of things to come anyway.

My Explorca gets 63.44ly currently. Change the Optimal Mass in Coriolis to match the new FSD, it gets 68.56. So just over 5ly improvement.

Wait... FDev changed it to Top 75%?!?!?!

That is complete donkey turd! Had that been the case I'd have made the runs last Saturday after how good the FSD was going to be became known. I didn't because at that point I was looking at a minimum 10h grind and just didn't have time for that.

W...T...F FDev! Doing this is actually WORSE than what you did in the first place. Now I'm mad.:mad::mad:

If I knew that from the start I would participate in the CG. The only reason I didnt participate was that I knew I would not reach the top 25% without sacrificing all my RL, so I didnt bother. So, imho its a bad decision on FDev's part to chance the requirements afterwards. I wont cry over it ofc, but it definitely feels like a slap in the face.

RE: The combat CG -- I would venture a guess that the majority of participants did so with no great expectation of being in the top 25%, as it was AX combat, which is a very niche profession that has a big gap between the base bounties, e.g., scouts, and Interceptors from Cyclops on up. So the incentive for many (such as myself) was likely not the FSD but the CG itself: helping the Alliance, fighting 'goids (and maybe growing some greater skills), and being social, not a bad rationale for being in a Community Goal event. Those who see it as a zero sum game (meaning "if someone else gets something, that means I lose something") seem to be missing that community aspect. Those who did play that aspect with no serious intent on the bonus reward now find their community-mindedness rewarded, which isn't altogether a gimmee since their participation helped other boats float higher on the tide they created. Maybe next time participate for reasons other than the bonus.

Hmmm I only got 1 of the fsd modules from the event even though I placed high enough in both, and it only shows 1 type of engineering on the info :/

Met and joined up with a group loading and unloading a FC for the first time after a long time playing the game exclusively in a private group with one other friend. Expect to work with them in the future. So that was a nice development. Went into it only expecting to come away with the FSD (which it was looking like it’d be harder to remain in the top 25 doing anaconda runs only up til that point), and came away with something more.

I equipped my new FSD and got about 5LY increased distance but I am not seeing any increase in boot speed. The mod states a 2 second boot but from the time I press the button to activate the FSD and the time I actually jump is from 11-14 seconds. Anyone else seeing this or did I interpret the 2 second boot speed incorrectly?

My understanding is the boot speed is actually about how fast you bounce back from being interdicted. I know it’s not how long it takes to high-wake.
