a fellow of infinite jest
I'll give you that. Congratulations Simoof! "Roman Dwarves" has now become the second worst topic of all time.
Keep an eye on this thread. What's happened here is just a case of bad timing. You've chosen the wrong day to visit San Francisco. If you look in the previous poll threads you'll have seen how I've always asked people to vote for outright winners. This number of topics is obviously unsustainable and it's going to be very difficult for someone to write a good Drabble. Yes I do realise I'm being complicit by pointing out that the topic wasn't as convoluted as it should be. It's like watching a car crash. I want to see the full extent of the damage.
As for the bad humour, there's a theory about Christmas Cracker jokes which says they are deliberately bad so that the people around the table share the experience of groaning together. This is why I aim for that level of humour. But more than that, joking around is a vital aspect to the writing process. All my favourite books contain humour to some extent, albeit somewhat dark in some cases. I certainly would stifle anyone's creativity by telling them to be more serious. I'd only tell them to watch their language as this is a family forum. I do enjoy pointing and groaning at infantile puns.
The floccinaucinihilipilification of the Roman Dwarves never seemed more unjust. ...

I'm not submitting a word. I guess that will be the only drabble I submit. Not sure which is sillier, the new topic or trying to tie it up instead of voting on your favorite OR destroying the readings with so much schoolyard humor it drives off listeners. Maybe I am just more prone to moderation?
Have a great Drabble, guys!![]()
