I can't believe I'd missed my son's birthday, but I'd just found a region of space riddled with black holes. It was my chance to stamp our family name on the Galactic Map.
My onboard computer told me I'd been out exploring for 12 months. I was going to miss another of my son's birthdays but I'm sure he won't mind when he sees the gift I buy him.
"That's funny. That should be a Coriolis Station!", frustration in my voice over such a stupid mistake. My chronometer resynched with the station to correct for time dilation. I daren't look.

Stryker’s Return Part 2 – By Cmdr Ventura_
Matt to his friends, was remembering a song called “The Twelve Months of Elite Dangerous”, which was found on a 21th century device called a MP3 Player, now in a museum.
He woke again before the nightmare song filled his mind, to see the space whole that was his canopy and time ticking by.
He tried to move the ship nothing happened, “ah” he said “A reboot of the ships systems should hopefully fix this”, the systems came alive and he plotting a course to Hutton, as it was only 500ls away.
He noted his current location and then jumped.

You should always love your child, even though it may seem ugly. No child (or child of the mind) is ever really ugly.

Don't be too hard on yourself, there's nothing wrong with your drabble.
The locals haven't formed a mob demanding that it be destroyed by fire, so I'd say that was a fair indication that it was definitely NOT a bad drabble.
I've really liked some of the drabbles I've written that only got one vote, and not been happy with some of those that have had 10+ votes.
Do what you can for your drabble then release it into the wild to make it's own way, and offer no apologies. Unless you used a _really_ bad pun...

It's a clever Drabble. It'd get my vote if we went to the polls just now. But I reserve judgement because some of the writers who mull over the topic a bit before they post can come up with some right corkers.

Why, yes, of course! She called me her 'little angel', and said I would one day be Prime Minister (Thank God she wasn't ALWAYS right about EVERYTHING!).
She also told me, one day, to remove the garish red lipstick and soot from my face (I'd had a 'mad moment), as that would put people off voting for me... apparently, she got that wrong too.
