Hello, my name is Futuristic Kung Fu and I will be yourassassin Drabble poll putter upper today. This week we have plenty of entries for the topic ”The twelve months of Elite Dangerous”, chosen by last week's winner: Alien! Our Drabbles this week include the first entry by a promising new Drabbler, as well as a last minute surprise entry!!

Traditionally, your unposted drabble would undoubtedly have won, would have been the best of the bunch, perhaps even the best drabble ever written in the whole history of drabbledom, so console yourself with that thought :D

Yeah, you did. I had to release the poll a few hours early as I had somewhat of an emergency... You can still make it into the honourable mentions though!
And it looks like a Drabble thread Mk II might be in order somewhere in 2016...

Thank you for the votes. Now that the holiday season is over we can get the Drabble competition back to normality. I'll put the poll up on Thursday night as per usual, and we will begin a whole new year of unexpected twists, bad puns, and fart jokes. To celebrate this fact, and to celebrate all the new places to visit in Elite, my half of this week's topic will be "NEW BEGINNINGS"

Are you up for a challenge? Why not enter a Drabble in this week's competition? Drabbles are 100 words exactly (Excluding Title) and set loosely in the Elite Dangerous universe. We use www.wordcounter.net to verify the 100 word count, so be sure to check yours there too!

Frank picked the topic for this week HOT off his victory and it is "New Beginnings"

Entries to the poll are limited to the first 20 Drabbles submitted, and the poll might go up earlier than Thursday night if all those slots are filled, but don't let that stop you from showing us what you would have entered in the contest.

Friday night the live readings occur http://twitch.tv/psykokow so don't miss it, all drabbles are read out... 7pm UK Time (whatever that may be since Kow never starts on time anyway).

Please bear in mind that this is a family forum, read by little people with impressionable minds and old folks who are easily shocked. We want as many people as possible to feel comfortable on this thread. Don't write anything that you wouldn't want to read out in front of your family. It may appear a little hypocritical of me to ask you to watch your language. I myself sometimes find it difficult to know what is and isn't acceptable. The rule of thumb I use is that if something I've said makes Listeri69 laugh then I've went too far.

Although there's a possibility I banned him, either that or I accidently voted for him. If only I could remember, a fog of merriment has clogged up my drabbling organ, plus it was such a long time ago... in a galaxy far yarrr me hearties.

An anarchy system had long been on Count Rolando's must-see list. From the escape pod viewport, The Count contemplated the fiery remains of his yacht plunging towards the ice moon, and the approach of the pirates Asp. His thoughts turned to the future : So what if a luxurious life of idle debauchery was over ? It was a new beginning; A new life of healthy low fat/low sugar diet and lots of invigorating exercise in the sun sounded quite pleasant. All those tales about the downside of plantation life were obviously exaggerated. Yes, the Count felt truly blessed.

Abraham cleaned the knife with which he’d dispatched the merchant, who was slowly bobbing against the bulkhead of the ship, blood still seeping from his remains.
Showing no respect for his victim’s remains he casually pushed the corpse, which glided easily in the zero-g environment, through the Haulers airlock into his ship, Genghis’ Terror’
Securing the airlock, he remotely activated the Terror’s autopilot, setting it for a nearby star.
So Abraham Jones, feared corsair of Liaden, with an Imperial Death Warrant on his head, ‘died’.
A smile began to erupt on his face. This was a fresh start for him.

Elite: Dangerous? Soon!

The clock clicked over for the 3rd day of the new year.
The pilot mused. Strange; our journey through time is a continual forward flow, yet we seem obsessed with confining, segmenting and quantifying.
What is a year? It's the time that small dot does a loop around that larger dot. Zooming out it became so absurd he forgot what he was doing.
The first breath of the new year, a young pilot destroyed small undefended ships. Then the unjust death of an old friend.
Now, outside his cockpit floated carnage; decaying lifepods.
Soon, he'd be recharged. Soon, the wrath.
