Good god Midden! What are you saying? Please, don't make me do this!

Don't you realise that my little rhymes are like Franks puns?

The wailing, the gnashing of teeth. Some things just can't be unheard.

Have you so quickly forgotten “The Lipple Ship Who Farped”?

Or my completely cleanly written dockers-themed “The Agatha Mystery Song”?
(Which my hero and writer of Dockers, Listeri69, sang live on air, without the aid of a tune?
(To much merriment.))

OK Midden!
This one's for you.

Listeri69 singing “The Agatha Mystery Song” will go down in the annals of history.. hold on.. I think there's something up with my spelling.

Gift of Loyalty

"The attempt on my life obviously failed."
The speaker paced purposefully around the dais.
"All the evidence points to my inner circle. One of you is the traitor."
"But Senator, we've been your supporters since the very beginning, surely it
couldn't be anyone here?"
"Only those close to me could have known my full itinerary... Not to worry, I have a plan.
In recognition of all your efforts, I present a gift."
The dais opened, displaying an elegant clock counting down.
"The Empire thanks you for your service."
The Senator's hologram smiled and faded, as the room exploded around it.

Final Flight

Simoof had to die, everyone agreed, even Simoof. It had started a few years earlier when he had left to marry haggis heiress Edith Mogadon, He had allowed the rest of the crew of Frank Midden mining outpost to keep him on the books and divide his salary between them.
.
Now the auditors from head office were starting to ask awkward questions. The scam would have to end, but they could get one final bonus. TJ, Kow and Alien loaded the cargo ship with minerals. Simoof would 'die' when the ship was lost, they would salvage the cargo later.

UNEXPECTED RESULTS

Bbbut…bbbbut they stuttered, how is that possible?

Frank looked aghast, Splendour fainted and Edith had demanded a recount.

Simoof and Erik went to get a cloth to clean the puddle Simoof had accidental made when he'd hear the news.

The extreme levels of smugness were palpable.

It sat in the corner, grinning like the Cheshire Cat on happy pills sniffing a pound of cat nip for good measure...

‘Well,’ said Kow. ‘That’s the the drabbles finished then.' He stomped off to play with his kittens.

'Three votes eh? Put them in your pipes and smoke em.' Tj exclaimed with glee.

Sorry T.j, I wasn't feeling well yesterday and wasn't paying the forums any attention.

Normal service will be resumed this week :D

<Edit>
But you got 2 votes this week?

Are you up for a challenge? Why not enter a Drabble in this week's competition? Drabbles are 100 words exactly (Excluding Title) and set loosely in the Elite Dangerous universe. We use www.wordcounter.net to verify the 100 word count, so be sure to check yours there too!

Congratulations Mr Mogadon. You just managed to pip Alien at the post and won this week's special prize, an imaginary toilet paper crown and the honour of choosing this week's topic. Your choice was "UNEXPECTED RESULTS"

Entries to the poll are limited to the first 20 Drabbles submitted, and the poll might go up earlier than Thursday night if all those slots are filled, but don't let that stop you from showing us what you would have entered in the contest.

Friday night the live readings occur http://twitch.tv/psykokow so don't miss it, all drabbles are read out... 7pm UK Time (whatever that may be since Kow never starts on time anyway).

Please bear in mind that this is a family forum, read by little people with impressionable minds and old folks who are easily shocked. We want as many people as possible to feel comfortable on this thread. Don't write anything that you wouldn't want to read out in front of your family. It may appear a little hypocritical of me to ask you to watch your language. I myself sometimes find it difficult to know what is and isn't acceptable. The rule of thumb I use is that if something I've written surprises me unexpectanly then I've went too far.

Good luck and Get Drabbling

"Jump drive engaged."

Commander T.j looked over his Drabble once more then submitted it. The transmission, which the computer should have halted until he had exited hyperspace, was transmitted instead. Comprehensible English words and sentences stretched and twisted into sine waves, chirps, whistles, and an occasional fart noise.

The clueless Commander stared out the window at the streaks of light, imagining each one as a vote, raining down upon his elegantly worded story.

Suddenly, the starfield stopped and his ship was thrown out of the tunnel sideways, spinning.

A Thargoid ship, looming over his, sent a transmission.

"You Declare War?"

The Neck of Crop A list

The botanists sat nervously eying the envelope.
"Open it before I go insane. It's coming up for Friday teatime" shouted the ships commander.
The specimen was balanced in a chair in-front of a webcam, mishapen and lumpy and gross.
It had been widely studied and aggressively disputed.
Solanum tuberosum was the classification most had given it.
But these botanists had noticed some mutations, some peculiarities.
"This could be the new crop suitable for growth in some of the harshest environments!"
The captain ripped open the envelope and fell backwards, stunned.
"Human????"
7pm chimed - It spoke - "Welcome to abrakadrabble"

Madness

Was I mad? I suppose I was. A sane man would have given up quickly, would have rationed his supplies against a slim chance of rescue, or stepped out into the black to spare himself a terrible end starving out between the stars. Instead, I worked.

I striped down the hyperdrive to its base components, cleaned and inspected them, reassembled the drive, then went back to the cabin and try once again to jump. Two hundred and thirty seven times.

The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result.

Insane? Perhaps. But alive.
