Adam, can we please have a poll on probes?

I am strongly in favor of no poll for at least the next six months. Let us try it first extensively, and then see how it goes. I voted for ship transfer delay, but I am not sure I'd still have done that if I had given it a chance. Also, it isn't binary. Suppose 51% is against infinite probes, would that mean the majority would appreciate a limit of three probes, with synthesis cost at 300 Ytrium and all non-horizon (base/mac players) locked out completely? I doubt it. So you'd need people against infinite probes to suggest a limit, plus a way to deal with base/mac players. The limit is based on no experience, the suggestion is based on no technical understanding.

Whats the point.

Too soon. We need to play the beta first and see how it works out. Then we can all discuss with some experience.

Those who are so keen on "immersion" have also to think about explorers deep in the black who have run out of exploration ammo .... what do they do? Synthesis is a pretty lame gamey procedure, anyway.

Didn't get a poll on the insta reveal honk......so can't see one on probes.

Maybe they should carry 999,999 probes!

To be honest, I think might as well get rid of the "mapping planet bits" with the probes, just fire one single probe that maps the whole planet (or call it surface scanner pulse or whatever).

The non-horizons players already far out in the black make a good case for infinite probes. But with infinite probes, the whole probe lobbing / mapping the planet minigame becomes just a pointless gimmick. So best is to just launch a probe at the planet and be done with it.

I think we should have a poll for the terrible way FD introduced space legs and atmospheric landings as well - very poor effort on their part.

Might as well get in early, we haven't used the probes yet so we should comment on everything that is proposed :D

Yeah that was rigged poll.

Vote for A immersive delay that doesn't break lore or B no delay.

Of course A would win if we had vote A wait up to hours and use millions of cr for ship delivery or B no delay. B would have won.

There are obvious reasons that people are just refusing to consider as to why they are infinite.. Non horizons players, someone with no srv, someone who already thinks there is enough "material grinding" in the game.

Fdev did not make this decision just for a laugh, they know the issues, and came up with the best solution.

Now, just let it lie.
If people want a limit, then use your imagination and give yourself one.. Simple.

I think it is fair to say that for many people, gameplay with a skill-element matters more than speed. So what is 'pointless gimmick' to you is 'actual gameplay' to others.

Exactly, and that is the same here. A 'yes or no' to infinity doesn't give us any assurance the alternative won't be terrible. :p

Adam:"Sandro, look at those results!"
Sandro:"That is weird, I thought they didn't like their time wasted? Oh well, grinding it is then!"

Yeah that's the thing with democracy, it's only good and valid when you get the result you want. When you don't, it was rigged, hacked by russians, dog ate the votes, fake news influenced the result, etc.

I get you, I don't like democracy either, democracy is just majority fascism, but unfortunately all the other systems are even worse.

I think the big question is if they did hold a poll and the overwhelming majority voted in favour of infinite probes, would the 'No Probes' group accept that and shut up about them?

As we still see now in the UK's Brexit vote!!
