I think it would be very useful if the data gathered from a Detailed Surface Scan, specifically the biological data area map, could be visible on the Surface Map accessible from through the System Map in the left-hand panel.
Reason being, when hooning around a planet in an SRV, or flying below the orbital cruise height, there's no way (that I know of) to access this data. Assuming this data is accurate enough as a true indicator of location, including it in the surface map would allow you to make sure you are conducting your search in the correct area, instead of wandering blindly or having to go up to orbit to activate the DSS. It would also give extra functionality to the Surface Map, which already looks great.
I may be missing something, but would this not be a useful addition?
It would also be handy to add waypoints, even if only temporary ones, though permanent once would absolutely have their place too.
