Add Detailed Surface Scanner biological data to Surface Map

I think it would be very useful if the data gathered from a Detailed Surface Scan, specifically the biological data area map, could be visible on the Surface Map accessible from through the System Map in the left-hand panel.

Reason being, when hooning around a planet in an SRV, or flying below the orbital cruise height, there's no way (that I know of) to access this data. Assuming this data is accurate enough as a true indicator of location, including it in the surface map would allow you to make sure you are conducting your search in the correct area, instead of wandering blindly or having to go up to orbit to activate the DSS. It would also give extra functionality to the Surface Map, which already looks great.

I may be missing something, but would this not be a useful addition?

It would also be handy to add waypoints, even if only temporary ones, though permanent once would absolutely have their place too.

They could just modify the planetary zoom in system map to include exobio imagery which of course u can rotate. And your position be highlighted.

I would like surface scans to be added to planetary maps. And if possible to change visualization - that pixelated heatmap looks not so good. Even Horizons hotspots were better. Maybe something like choropleth map or similar.

That would only be of any use if the surface map actually showed density as well as distribution, as it doesn't all you would get is, well, what we already have. Now I entirely agree we do need an actual heat map, I don't know whether the density of bio is the same as we had in Alpha with the original heat map that let you find the dense areas of bio;

I haven't seen bio as crowded as this since they changed the way the hap worked, they might still be there, but how to find them?

Pretty sure the alpha concentrations were exaggerated to make it easier for us to find stuff.

Possibly, but the point is without a proper heat map we will never know. Well I know the planet in the screenshot, and the lat and long so I could fly back, but they have adjusted the planetary tech somewhat since then so it won't really give a definitive result.

I would be happy if you could just toggle the active planet display mode on my HUD between the maps and no map. Without having to fly way up high into the atmosphere. (works at any altitude)

And while we are at it, once a planet has been scanned and mapped why can't the HUD display a rendered "night-vision style" display for the dark side of the planet?

Those were the days.
