Yeah, I think they would be dropping the ball on this one. These are nice species and all (very popular too), but there was still so much they could do with a larger pack. Also raises questions about what the next Animal Pack's theme would be, if they continue those packs that is.

Yeah the 4 animals feels really weird. This would also mean we don't get leopards, as either the EAS or this pack would have been good for it. I don't get the north africa theme either, where are the north african animals besides the fennec (which I love), where is the addax or Scimitar horned oryx to go with the theme?

I like the 4 animals, but this could (and should) have been an 8 animal pack without a useless theme.

Hmm, what part of Africa does current Africa theme ingame represent?
Ok, this was quite a surprising one. Quite underwhelming news for many though. But I don't really mind...

As with everyone, I'm both excited and conflicted. On one hand, four really good animals. On the other hand, of all the continents Africa seemed the most likely to get an animal pack, and it seems really odd to me that they chose it for the next standard DLC rather than North America or Europe or something. Basically just echoing statements here.

The four animals selected are fantastic, but I'm very disappointed that this wasn't an animal pack. I feel like this may be the final nail in the coffin for leopards and baboons especially, which just seems ridiculous to me, not to mention all of the countless other popular African picks. Between Africa and Southeast Asia, I would've given the animal pack treatment to Africa in a heartbeat. I'm way more let down by this "news" than I should be.

I'm pretty surprised that this won't be an animal-focused pack, but I'm excited for it nonetheless. And the scenery being based on North African architecture makes me think we'll be getting some Egypt style pieces, which I for one was kind of hoping for. I do wonder what the exhibit animal will be. Hoping for Panther Chameleon but Black Mamba is probably a safe bet.
Side Note: This leak proves that the 4chan rumors were false, so Planet Zoo support could very well continue into 2022.

I think this is really delightful news! I had a feeling the next pack might include building items, because it balances the desires of both major playerbases: the builders get new pieces to play with, and the rest of us who are craving animals get the top four most desired African animals not yet in the game. This makes a lot of sense to me and I honestly think it's a smart move by Frontier.

In other threads, people have mentioned that a lot of popular builders are disappointed about how their Southeast Asian content is being received/not finding new inspiration in the animals, because they're more inspired by building options. By oscillating between animal pack DLC and items+animals DLC, Frontier are pleasing everyone (to the best of their ability) and keeping the maximum number of players keen and keyed into the game. If this African pack comes out in US/UK summer, as speculated, I get the feeling the next pack after will be another animal-focused one. All this seems totally keeping in line with Chante's mention that this year will be the best yet for Planet Zoo.

But ofc, some of those would be "reskins/clone" animals and I think the community would be upset with that
Technically the rhino and penguin are already clones, and I assume the fennec fox will reuse the canid rig. Making the meerkat the only original animal in this pack.
They could have done more original animals in a 7+1 pack , just think of the porcupine or the gerenuk.

I definitely think that they would've been better off delaying this pack in favor of something else. My best guess at the minute is that they didn't want to follow an animal only pack with another animal only pack, which I do get. But why force the Africa pack to be the old style? Why not make a European or even a North American pack follow that? I wouldn't be happy with a 4 + 1 NA pack, but ultimately it probably would've been better than an Africa 4 + 1 pack.
I was in the middle of typing another post but this one just popped up and pretty much nailed exactly what I was going to say. I get alternating, even though I'd personally prefer all animals from here on out. But I understand why they'd want to do it. So why are they blowing the region that has arguably the most fascinating and exotic animal options remaining and also has a theme in the base game, when they could've just as easily done Europe next and nobody would've complained? It's just so infuriating.

And to be clear, three of the animals in this pack were included in my "dream" list (even going so far as to get my preferred rhino), and the penguin was my first runner up. I can't stress enough how much I'm looking forward to the individual animals. But I also feel very strongly that this was not the right way to handle African DLC.

I really don't think I agree with the assertion that any animal that has a passing resemblance to something else already in the game is a "clone." The fennec fox is going to need a new rig, because you can't just shrink another dog from the game and slap some big ears on it. This isn't a lazy pack, in my opinion. They are genuinely responding to our many requests for these specific animals, which is a good thing.

If they do give us more animals than the brilliant animals currently confirmed, this is what I would expect
