Albino and melanistic options in sandbox mode

In a sandbox anything should be possible including seeing and caring for any animal but I would like some of my animals to be melanistic/luesistic etc. But due to very rare breeding chances I may never get what I want (which is the purpose of a sandbox). So if there were an option in sandbox mode to make offspring albino, luesistic or melanistic that would be AMAZING!

This would allow us to see the variations and strive to get them in our franchises. Just imagine a beautiful melanistic leopard or albino Nile monitor living in a nice enclosure it would make many experiences including mine substantially more meaningful and great, like if you agree and if you don’t leave me s reply and I’ll get back to you😀.

Someone already posted this before. Gonna give the same answer I gave them: I don't agree this should be an option. Hidden features like genetics should stay hidden regardless of the game mode you're in
Well do you not think I should be able to see if I want to and other people can just leave it if they dont? Because right now that statement sounds very selfish towards the opposing player base.

I Definitely wouldn’t mind having that in sandbox. Even if it were a rare thing, in game, I would keep looking for all the babies born to see of I could spot well....an albino tiger 🐯 for example. If this would happen in franchise mode they could be sold for lots of $$$$. If it happens it would be a great addition to the family of zoo’s everyones going to create. :)

Oh right. This answer made me remember you're the one that started this exact same conversation before and ended up getting it locked because you just wanted to start arguments with everyone that disagreed with you.

I'm out.

You already had this exact topic locked because you just wanted to disagree and argue with anyone who had a disagreeing view.

Once again, for the record, there should still be things that are rare in sandbox mode. Not all genetic mutations are good for animals. For example the ones that lack pigment and make them lighter actually make life harder for them as they're more easily spotted. So as pleasing to the eye as some of these animals are, they shouldn't be freely given.

Secondly, if your main goal is to have animals with these mutations then you're going to get them freely and then get bored. Frontier don't want that, they want the game to have as much longevity as possible and giving absolutely everything away in sandbox won't help with that. There still needs to be things to aim for or want, otherwise you're just left with building and not everyone gets their kicks from designing, some are playing just to have fun with the animals

I completely understand why you want this, but I just don't see it as being a great idea.

Basically, it boils down to the question, what 'Sandbox Mode' should be.
Should it be a completely free-form building tool with unlimited creativity and no challenge (and actually no game-play) whatsoever?
Or should it be a mode where - while any need for earning money and unlocking features is scrapped - there is still some challenge left?

Both opinions are valid, but cancel each other out.
I don't see a point in attacking those favoring "the opposite side" for stating their preference. Both are equally entiteled to their opinion and this is a wish-list thread.

The way I see it, is that it's going to ruin any surprises that could happen in Franchise Mode. Within the first day we're going to see every form of every animal, from every genetic and colour mutation to every size of animal. As special as they'll still be to own in franchise you'll have taken away the shock and awe from owning a huge gorilla because you've already seen bigger. You won't have the 'Oh wow I didn't know these animals could have this genetic mutation' because you'll already know every single variant for every single animal.

I don't just think it'll ruin sandbox by being able to breed exactly how you want, it'll take away from franchise mode in its own ways too.

Leave rare to be rare its perfectly fine the way it is.

Great response, it would be amazing😀!

Thanks for understanding my views but all I want to say is that no matter what sandbox mode is meant for creativity and imagination, also a animal does not need camouflage because 2 reasons 1. It is in a zoo where they are no predators and 2. Because the animals obviously aren’t real overall my point is the is not real life realism and even if it was having an albino in your zoo would not affect welfare but maybe stress (hence the reason for one-way glass). Either way I believe the animals in the zoo should be up to the owner of that zoo and should be exclusively their choice especially in sandbox mode

The way I see it is that sandbox mode is meant for creativity as I have previously stated. That said even if we knew every variation all the biggest sizes etc. Then don’t you think many will be fuelled by this making them strive to get all variations in their franchise zoo, plus just saying size changes minimalistically with only like a 4cm difference in game. But even if it would ruin the game for some it would be selfish to ignore the majority or at least the other half of the player base who would enjoy this addition.

But it just wouldn’t it would enhance many experiences and even get new player based just imagine a fully albino/melanistic zoo full of the rarest animal which you would then want in franchise mode to show off and sell to the highest bidder. It would be an amazing option for those who want this (a lot of people including many of my friends).

Exactly and that’s why sandbox is great, options should be both limitless and be able to be turned off for those who want the challenge👍🏻👌.

Ummm, does it matter if one has their own 'shock and awe' experience in Sandbox or the Franchise mode or any other mode they play? Should people not watch Youtube videos nor Twitch streamers because they might see something in the game that would spoil that 'surprise' factor for them? A lot of people have already lost any 'shock and awe' value to the game by simply learning ahead of time what animals will be in the game. Data miners have even scoured the backcode and posted their findings. So anyone who has seen those posts and read them have lost some sense of a 'shock and awe' moment.

Exactly it should be choice👍🏻

Maybe I didn't convey my objections to the idea clearly.

Of course people should watch twitch and should look at pictures on here and reddit and where ever else. However, knowing something is rare, hard to achieve or collect for yourself is a different thing compared to just being able to do anything at the click of a button. You still get the great feeling of doing it for yourself if you know its rare even though you may have seen someone else do it.

I completely understand the viewpoint sandbox should be free of limitations and with that I mostly agree. If you don't want the limitations of money, or animals ever dying or needing food then fine, because that's just basic game things. They don't effect anyone else.

By being able to fully manipulate the genes to get whatever desired outcome and then posting your pictures of animals that break the world record sizes but aren't recorded or your zoo full of pure white animals takes away from that rareness of it all and somewhat takes away the feelings you have as a player when you spend a long time trying for the world record breeds or white animals because it'll never be anywhere near as good as the pictures and videos you see on a daily basis being uploaded because of that manipulation ability. You end up turning something that's supposed to be a mainly fun mechanic into a grind for the majority.

At the end of the day we are just going to go round in circles. I have my opinion and you have yours, both are valid and we can only argue our points until we know exactly where the devs stand.

Thank you for the clarification. Your point is much clearer now. I don't disagree with you although I see the other sides points as well. Because I have never found myself to being a "lucky" person I can see the thrill of acquiring something tat is rare and I can see why one might the desire the ease of acquiring such in a Sandbox mode at least. Therefore, my personal feelings on this topic is that I will play that aspect of the game however the game is developed. What will be will be, at least for me.

I think sandbox mode should be as free as possible for player choice. This would mean customization of the genes and variants of your animals before you introduce it (alongside a randomized option). If you don’t want to buy albinos right away, then don’t. The sandbox mode still allows you to have that option.

There are exactly zero downsides to having sandbox mode be as free as possible.
