Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

I just spend a bit of time in Mobius with several other CMDRs.
I saw several new Obelisks lit up. After I scanned all available in group G, I relogged. The new ones and standard ones were active. I made a screenshot (I hink) and suddenly - the new ones shut down. Why?
Could it be related to this: a fellow CMDR said just a minute earlier that he will log off. Is it possible that with him leaving the instance (HIS instance in which we were located) the instance shut down and deactivated the new Obelisks without scanning them?
That would mean to me: the puzzle is not bound to Open/PG but could be solved alone as well. It makes otherwise no sense to me if someone logs of and "takes the new Obelisks with him"

I think we are missing the "trigger" to reactivate obelisks.

Well, if that would be the intent, then one could argue that the results for everything after 13 would have to be scanned with 3 object combination, which won;t be possible, due to 2 item cargo hold ;)

Maybe the bleed effect is not a bug, rather, it's intentional, perhaps a team is better, one on the ground scanning and one in a ship with all the items in their cargo hold, this way you'd have 2 in the SRV and any one of the others in the ship, this way, more than 2 objects.

Having tried the relog trick in solo mode, (Group B, Obelisk 6)

Each time scanning with the same 2 items on board (Casket + Orb)

The data type changed with each reset something like this: Alpha, Delta, Gamma, Alpha/Beta, Alpha/Gamma, Gamma/Gamma and then back to Alpha (Cannot remember the exact sequence, will need to redo the test)

I don't get any valid scans, but if I could predict the sequence maybe I could have the correct objects in the hold for the next scan

The 100 million CR question is what objects do you need for each combination.

Well, the greek alphabet is alpha-beta-gamma-delta-epsilon, if the sequence is different than that, maybe it is a clue.

They could be humanoid in shape, but does the data indicate they are mammalian, or could they be reptilian or insectoid?

1) "It is also interesting to note the genetic break that occurred at the time of the north-south split, with the appearance of a redder skin in the members of the northern clan, suggesting a racial element of division."

Not scales or exo-skeleton.

Okay, I today I arrived back at the ruins, yesterday I'd cashed in, spend the 26M I'd got, done some upgrades to my Python, swapped to AspEx to reduce number jumps and returned to felice to get the message again, no problem, got it, returned to the ruins. Picked up two of each item, then sat in Modius PVE for 30mins or so, I checked my mission board and saw I've 1M on the mission, that's cool, I've not had any missions messages though! I sit there for a bit more, CTD, re-load, on the 3rd time of trying I get into an instance with other players, I check my mission board, I've got 2M showing!, but still no new messages in the messages tab, top one is the 'Decoding the Ancient Ruins' message from re-getting the mission and below it are the 26 data scans I had previously.

I guess this is another bug to list!

Got the same behaviour. Then i deleted the old successful scan messages and started receiving them again (just a couple, 'cause I haven't had much time to scan around lately). I believe that if you complete successfully a scan for wich you already have the message, it simply does not show, but you get the cash reward anyway. Of course this makes everything more difficult, since you canot know which scan gave you the reward, unless you deleted all the old messages.

Need helping hand to show me a reference to a worksheet or document
that contains all obelisks discovered so far and their combos
(area/number according to CMDR Kalearne Recoloured Ruins pics or some other, doesnt matter solo, open, private).
If no combo, but somebody marked the light is also useful.

Ive checked few sheets, but for now I am not interested in data/waves/patterns,symbols on them, only lights/combos.
I have (like thousands of others) strong hunch about the simple (relatively) *key*.

Due to how their Ridges on their arms where used as weapons and for cutting up meat so they could eat it with their small mouths (they sound more insectoids to me) allso how they care for their young they have huge communal nurseries wich is wery common to Hive insects .

Also, Biology 08 tells us that they make sex standing. Insects do that too. Mammals usually don't, neither reptiles.

Its a looooooong shot, but I suppose its worth a suggestion.

I suggest CMDR's on this forum check their Rep's in vain hope Michael Brookes or someone on the FD team might have liked a suggested idea that could give guidance.

Straw clutching no doubt but worth a shot!

But the Thargoids are of a Hive mind and each guardian was an individual. They had views on the religious implications of AI implants and other such communal ties. More like carnivorous Meerkats less like insects.

Well after spending the week at the ruins and having banged my head against far too many Obelisks, I decided to do a map of my own.

I've rotated the map so its aligned with south at the top, north at the bottom.

In my time here, I've observed that the run sets slightly to the left of the moon, so if I stand at Group A (or along the long mound leading to it), I see the sun setting behind the beacon at Group A. If I stand in the centre of Group A and look at Group F, I will see the Moon rise out of Group F. If I turn and look at Pyramid A, I can see the planets Pole Star, and if I go to Pyramid A and begin to ascend it, it is at the same angle as the Pole star. If I stand at Group F, I see the Moon set over Group A.

I've highlighted this alignments on my map, as well as noting a few curiosities

The purple line, which follows the line of the hill at the northern end of the compound, crosses the centre of Group A, I'm not too sure but this could represent the galactic plane.
The 2 green lines, follow the edge of the plateau on which Group G is situated, both lines meet at Group A, touching Obelisks A8 and A10, and one continues through a Tablet location, the other through the beacon located outside the compound.

In this map I've highlighted just the artifacts and beacons, and drawn lines from the centre of Group A to each artifact, which to me appear to be a focus, its possible that the yellow dots indicate stars, the blue beacons could indicate additional ruins. Its possible that the orange line length are proportional to the distance from our main star. I've left the purple line in just in case it is related to the galactic plane, and may help in identifying possible additional ruin sites

that's the result of what I've found so far, I'll continue to do digging but I imagine the star locations will require maths, and there will be someone else here more suited to that, but I'm convinced that the structure of this site is designed as a map, so I'm hoping that someone will see this and maybe give them a brainwave.

The sun will be rising in the next day or two, will be interesting to see if there are any further alignments, I'll certainly be there for sunrise, and will post any interesting developments

Awesome! I'll try and scope out the sky for anything that matches that alignment
