Can we start trying to triangulate/wake scan the system they are jumping to? There might be a pattern. or have i been ninja'd

Hi, I've just had my "encounter of the lettuce kind" and definitely I see a constant pattern of bars in the lens flare from the yellow beam while they scan us. Two UAs from the third crash site onboard. The flower ship jumped in California nebula general direction. UAs still pointing to Merope after the witcherdiction.

For everyone trying to see the reference to the crash site/back of the ship.. I made a thing.

Crashed Alien ship was carrying Unknown Artifacts ?

I am trying to acquire a UP so as to be more use in search for progress but for the life of me its not happening. I'm in orbit around an Ammonia world (X-2488 in HIP 15310) at a distance of 12Mm with the Pleiades visible getting plenty of USS spawning but no joy on the UP. According to the work of others I should be looking for a Degraded Threat2 but its just not happening after a good deal of patience. Is it that I am doing something wrong?

That thing that still narks me the most about the original thargoid ship hyperdiction video is, the commander was being chased by an npc python, the fact that the hyperdiction occured by a thargoid ship that python should not of been able to lock on to the hyperdrive interdiction and enter the same instance as the thargoid ship till considerable time later, but it jumped in before the thargoid ship. it almost stinks of badly coded npc design, perhaps frontier need to rethink how npc ships should act when public videos pop up showing broken game mechanics in play.

Are they fleeing though? That's conjecture at the very best, stating it as an absolute doesn't really help our progress at all. The most likely theory is them searching for something, scanning us and not finding it (yet?!) and then moving on...until we have more information even THAT is just an educated guess though.

No, I'm pretty sure the shiny bit in the middle is a cockpit. Check out my hi-res screenshot-

That's definitely a transparent dome with structural struts around it, with something that looks a bit like a pair of UA/UP heads inside. It looks to me like there is also some frosting around the cockpit struts, just as we see in our own cockpit during the encounter. It may not be water ice over there, though.

I'd love it if somebody with a PC beefy enough to play in 4k would go hunt one of these encounters in solo and take a few Alt-F10 screenshots for some super-hi-res views! Sadly my PC isn't up to the task :(

I think these ships have no pilots, single living things. Just posted an another thread, that we were teased with tree-like structures (what we've never found) - can it be, that these things are being grown on low-g airless worlds with volcanism?

Oh wow!

That is semi-transparent so we are seeing what's behing? It cannot be showing a reflection can it?

Ok, I will attempt a 4k encounter.

I have a list though, it is a VR encounter first (just because!).

That screenshot though, where were you when it was taken, just stationary with the ship doing it's thing?

Clearly getting in front of the craft would be best but this would be difficult.

Maximum points for getting in front of it, going debug cam and clipping through the cockpit! :p

Awesome, good luck hunting, I hope you find one quickly!

My screenshot was taken just after the bright yellow 'scan' went out, just as the thing was beginning to move away. In retrospect it would have been better to get a shot before that, as after the scan the distortion field is very high. It goes without saying though, the more shots the better!

For everyone looking inside the "cockpit" for something, don't forget that even when we first got access to the debug cam there's weren't pilots in the seats. :)

Has anyone checked all of the permit locked systems yet? I heard a pathway has opened through the bernards loop permit wall.

There have always been routes through, it's just rather tricky.

I think I found your problem: HIP 15310 is ~254 LY from Merope. We haven't recorded any UP further than 97LY. Even when you are in the right spot, though, it can take a very long time depending on the kindness of the RNG; I once spent upwards of 8 hours on one planet before finally being successful. The following are resources for UP hunting that I didn't see on the front page.

I have edit access on the first, so can add your planet to the candidates (bottom section). Any info you can provide in cell comments would be helpful. However, because of the distance, I'd be surprised if a UP turned up.

Crazy idea here: What if it's a weapon that's kept behind some kind of shield, think of Independence Day, it opens, death ray comes out and it KILLS US ALL.

Crashed Alien ship was carrying Barnacles?

Those are unknown artefacts, not barnacles. Although a lot of people theorize that the ships are seeding the barnacles. We just have no proof yet.

On another note, Chopper and I were talking to some people last night who said they didn't have a UA on board during the encounter. But I believe each of them had an unknown fragment on board. Which is arguably one of the more important parts of the UA. This is the canister part that breaks off when you destroy them, for those that don't know. Another theory we have all been discussing a little is whether or not the trigger is if you have EVER encountered a UA at all, or had one on board. The only real way to test these ideas is to find someone who has not bothered with any of the alien stuff to date and have them fly around looking for it. The RNG aspect of the encounter will definitely make that take a while, however.
