Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

It's a nice idea, and one I've spent some time watching over, my latest theory being that the directions to the 4 new systems may line with the troughs around the larger circle, but even if they did line up, there is nothing to suggest how far you would have to travel in that direction. Unless the number of obelisks in a group can be scaled into a number of light years that match our distances - haven't gotten that far yet.

Well, we already know the systems, so we could at least narrow it down to a system to search. Anything that might shorten the list for those using eyeball mk. I to search would appreciate that I'm sure.

As an Xbox cmdr I've given up on that method as we have to be far too close for things to generate to realistically be of use there. Sigh.

Hey guys,

Is there a bug in scanning the monoliths in the alien ruins? I have scanned each one of the 15 monoliths, but only 12 million cr have shown up in my contracts page.

To be sure, I went and re-scanned everything again, but zilch..

the weird thing, a few monoliths in the "G" cluster (according to the player made map) didnt actually register, nor did they fail.

It would be nice if it could come up with a note saying, you have already scanned this information, just so you know your not going completely space crazy.. lol

I think Riz will have put details of the procedure on the summary (first page).
And thank for your guide to skimmer missions, it has helped me greatly in finding pois and reach my first billion

This is all true, but you miss my point - FD said that we don't need them for this puzzle, alot of people's time and energy is going into pushing theories that require the application of tools outside of the game, making them immediate dead ends. While tools are useful regardless, if your idea of what the ruins means relies on manipulating an image of the ruins to make sense of it, it may well be incorrect.

From what I understand we should be able to simply sit above ruins and look down at it - and work out exactly where we need to go. (While I've recorded a multitude of combination data and played with the image, none of that is going to help us find the next ruins besides the soul crushing, time consuming recording of coordinate sweep spreadsheets.)

Hence, my PSA about boxes, and thinking outside them. The answer is right in front of us, I'm starting to feel like an idiot.

If you follow that line of thinking your next clue is how do I translate what might be in front of me to:
1. a system
2. a destination in that system
3. some surface reference

You need all three really unless there is some other aid/clue when you get there.

Can we discount now all previous clues and intel i.e. is it safe to assume the ruins and only the ruins can provide the next step or solution?

The braintrees seem to be popping up all over the place, and are largely occurring in large deep dish craters (which I don't know the proper name of). Does anyone have an up to date list of where they've been found? I know that so far 3 sets have been found on IC 2391 Sector ZE-A D101's C 3 A (though I can't remember who found the other 2 besides Nostr1), I remember Pumabear8 found some on Synuefe ZL-J D10-119 7 E, and just now 2 more have been found on ZL-J D10-119 7 A.

I've now reached a point where I am unable to make up my mind, keep hanging over the ruins until the answer smacks me in the face and in the meantime wonder whether I'm actually playing a game, or continue the wild goose chase across the systems indicated by RAM with no bloody clue as to which direction to take, if the answers are in the ruins, they're either fiendishly clever or so fiendishly obscure that only the developer sees it.

I'd like that bone now please.

What about Taking the stuff from the braintrees and scan site A obelisks with it in your SRV hold. Im at work or id try it

The trees only drop normal materials, so that probably wouldn't work.

I am however curious about the things in general. AFAIK (I don't think anyone's keeping a list. The Geyser/Fumarole sheet is not up to date and not every finding of these things have been reported there) there's no proper list of them, but if memory serves they've so far all been found in deep dish craters near the equator, so far only in systems where Guardian sites should exist.

The large circle, the central ridge and the short piece look like the handle of a key, which might be what Exo is referring to.

Edit: Or.. the wedge shape to the left of the large circle looks like a keyhole, when combined with the circle and the central ridge could be the key coming out of that hole.

Hence why I'm drawn to the theory I posted about above. It's a simple and elegant solution and one that is, in my very humble opinion, worth exploring further.

"FD said that we don't need them for this puzzle...". Source of this information please ?
I searched for this kind of statement from FD all over the web and didnt find anything.

Very simple. Go to the front page. Click on the elite logo a couple of times and you'll see a message from Michael saying they're not going to use all the spectrogram etc. foot this one. It's in this very thread. On my phone now so can't do it for you.

The thought came because everything we read in the ram tah data packets regarding guardians suggests a mix of organic and sythetic in theit tech, i dont think the trees should be written off as just a curiosity.
The data packets talk about tech biology language. And now we find a unique lifeform in a crash site (asteroid meteor ship) trees are the key im sure

Synuefe ZL-J d10-119 7D, -22,5 73,6 bearing 260 hear clicking noise (like RF detector does), anyone to confirm?

Give me 5, ill be right there

Also, if possible grab like 2 minutes of audio with minimal noise (rotational correction off and hovering) I'll run a spectrogram and see if it compares. What is your altitude? this will contribute

Please would somebody share an image of viewing the ruins from a distance so I can get my head round what setting to use and how close I should be flying in order to see any ruins that may be there. I'm nowhere near the original site just now. Thanks in advance. Please also state the setting you used if you do post a pic.

The sounds remind me of a warning when you pitch too hard that it's unable to enter glide. but the glide was perfect, and the frequency varies. If I turn away from Bernard's Loop, it lowers, if I turn 260 - 280 it raises. I've heard them also while landing on planet 5 but 5 is a high G, so it's basically hard to hear anything among the noise.

and this could be irrelevant to current situation but I've heard this at BD-12 1172. I was unable to find something but who knows.

It's intended to be a better way of progressing things - more in game based, and less meta. But we'll see how it goes.

I believe he's refering to this one (took more than 'a couple' of clicks to get there, mind).

Post #8767, in response to #8766 (this thread).

If so, it is not *quite* as cut and dried as Octanoz states, but certainly has implications.

i flew around yesterday for 12 hours straight... this is getting extremely frustrating and i can't stop because i want the awnsers... Going back to the first ruins now out of frustration to have a look again.. but my patience is dropping.

I've arrived at coords and about to pull about 5 minutes of audio. Was sitting for a little and i am also hearing the occasional clicking. It seems to be very spaced out. Will let you know when i have better audio data.

Also, @neil_trayce, try to see if you can find out where its loudest, fly around the area and check

So by "in game based" he could mean "we'll give you a CG every couple of weeks until we're done"
