Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

What solution are you reffering to?

Basically, the runes on the pylons.
- they are faded, chipped and drawn by "hand". There is no obvious way that we could line those symbols up into columns, and parts of the message are missing. If this is intended to be boolean, good luck...
- but it looks very much like each diagram may have 6 small triangles around 1 large triangle.
- we know that the guardians have 4 fingers per hand, so having 6 dots doesn't seem particularly interesting.

So, the number of dots seems irrelevant, and instead it's about the *position* of those triangles relative to the big triangle (which is easily discernable).

Following that through, the obvious in-game meaning is that those are ship thrusters... (they could also be fingers - another piece of text refers to 'hand signals from hunting'?).
- thrusters firing at the top of ship (or left /shrug).
- thrusters firing at the front of the ship (reverse).
- thrusters firing at the bottom of the ship (or right /shrug).

So, there's an obvious answer.... but there's no obvious question o_O.

Well... speaking of boolean...
At this page: https://ixalon.github.io/elitedangerous/
- Set Pattern Operator to OR NOT
- Select any of the Relic/Base

And you will find that the Time Heat Map produces the same symbol in all three "slots" for each of the selected symbols.
I know exactly nothing about boolean so I dont know what it could even mean. :) If anything.
But it strikes me as very odd given those Obelisk patterns changing about 250 times...

Hi CMDRs.

Just a quick question. Is it possible to know which data you've collected other than the comms panel? I ask it because the mission log is crediting for 37 data pieces, but I only received Ram Tah's confirmation on 22. Player logs aren't much helpful either. I can't find a way to discover which data I'm missing, other than trying every possible combo on both sites.

Cheers

Yes, but there is no particular meaning for any of those triangles, there is no start or end to the sequence and there is no way to know whether the glyphs on the pylons relate to any (or all) of the animated glyphs on the obelisks. And then there's the relic o_O.

You can generate a vast amount of data to create a huge haystack, without any hint that there's a needle in it. It's possible everyone's missed something, but whilst it's a great idea - it's just a metric ton of triangular patterns. (I think I actually asked cmdr Sol to add that to the webpage, because I thought it would be helpful... but it's just more triangles)

On the other hand, we *do* know (from Ram Tah) that:
- there are glyphs which are based on hand language used for hunting. [simple directions on the pylons *could* obviously match this].
- there are pictoral glyphs which use movement to add meaning. [the glyphs on the obelisk *could* match this - and I suspect it's a system map].

I think it's not possible.

Trying to find pics coz I'm about to go to work... is that different to the etchings at the first site?

- - - Updated - - -

Have the ruins been fixed now? im only seeing the same 15 active obelisks in from solo mode in openplay now..?

Are you the only one there? It takes multiple (3 or 4 or more) players present to have more activate

Im heading to site one now Will do the same thing there.

Thanks. I assumed they were the same at a casual glance, but granted, I haven't looked incredibly closely at that. I did try once to do things based off their appearances at the first site once.

Has anyone else tried doing elaborate hand signs while parked in front of the obelisks?

Just curious, whats canonns stand point on posting results from open and pg considering its known that those results are a bug.

I don't think Canonn has a stance on that. We did have some thread rules agreed some time ago & I asked Rizal to put them upfront on the first page so everybody is aware since there are a lot of newcomers to this thread.

Obelisk A19 is NOT a duplicate of A20. I just got Ancient Technological Data 1/20 from it with Orb + Relic in my hold:

It would get confusing to start removing stuff. Often we don't know things are because of a bug until we are told by FDev. This could be hours, days or weeks after any information has come to light. The sheer number of posts that people post with data is incredible. Trying to police that more than currently is would be like spitting into the wind. :D

yep, to me too and it should be as i am at Skaude PO-X D2-181 some several KLy from Synuefe - but thats exactly what on FP is as example for ruins detectable by sound - I hear no difference ?

no, there is deff a difference. I'd suggest you head to a ruins site in solo with the music muted and just sit there for a good 10 minutes to get a good idea of it, then move out of range and slowly come in till you think you hear it. Having audio settings on night time can help too.
