Alien ship on ground at barnacle spotted!!!

You know- much as I understand all the misgivings on the pace that the alien story is developing at, I think what is done beautifully is that despite being a space game, the aliens are not the norm and therefore they are extroardinary when they do appear and still mysterious.

Make the whole thing so much more special.

Agree. It is really well done and great.

On the other hand it is sad that these cutscenes are currently the highlight of elite. And thats all what we get the next months waiting for 2.4? Some cutscenes oO.

Ok I could enjoy multpew until then.. but no wait I can't because it is doesn't work with wings..
Slowly I understand why they are so quiet about the dev road...

I've had 2 visits in Mobius at the dual barnie on Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7A today. First was at 11:30 and just had another 2 hours later at 1:30 BST (10:30/12:30 game time). It was pretty cool seeing it swoop in above my Asp and wonder if it was about to crush me!

[edit] actually, checked shadowplay video and the 2nd visit was at 12:24 game time so not a whole 2hr gap between them

If 20+ SRV's gather below the Alien ship, and tries to get "abducted", the combined weight of all the SRV's may force it to crash.

Also, parking ships in a tilted position allows SRV's to jump on top of the alien craft at the same time, maybe forcing it to land.

With 100+ SRV´s doing all these things, it would make som very silly video.

The endless white knighting. No comms, no diplomacy, no advisories. The first contact is them ripping humans out of hyperspace which is a violent threatening action. If they are indeed an intelligent life flying a ship then they can communicate. Choosing not to is hostile. If they are just animal ships then they have no ownership over anything, and are a dangerous species that needs subdued and researched
And what if they are entirely automated with the crew either in cryostasis or no crew at all, i.e. pre-programmed drone ships?

At last check, few minutes agao, griefers out in force.

Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7 A 6 -42.78° -21.71°

Before I was even fully loaded into the instance I was taking fire. Barely got out

Or dump all our Biowaste, alien recycling :)

do we know if these encounters are happening i solo and private groups too?

I've been around the area for hours at a time by the barnacles in solo, have yet to encounter anything. They're functional in private groups however I can't confirm for solo.

It's pretty hairy in open - I just tried a "boom n zoom" pass on the "bad guys" - and promptly smeared myself all over a cutters windsheild - wondeful flying fail from me - very funny though. perhaps I can join the Judean people's front crack suicide squad :p

Question: What are those small fast flying green lights inside the barnacles?

edit: not only that, they are flying around the barnacles (untouched, solo mode)

How is it false, people asked for nameplates as far as early 2014-2015. It took them 2+ years to implement it. I can pull some early statements from Sandro Sammarco stating that they were working on it back in 2015 if you wish or threads like that one : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=70777

He's not wrong.

Just to add to this - combat logging has been a problem since day one I assume, and three years later there's neither a fix or a punishment or a deterrence. FDev merely says "we are monitoring it..."

OooooOOooh. Monitor away.

Just had a instance where the ship deployed hardpoints and became hostile towards my wing mate, it then decided to scan him like it would the barnacle.

Fireflies. They are common around MA, UA and UP. A few can be spotted even when a barnacle is barren.

When not distorted by optical effects, it looks like short a green light spiral.
