All these mining updates and patches. So combat updates when?

I’ve noticed, as have others, when you kill an NPC and get a message saying something like 492,000cr bounty awarded. You actually only get 350k when you turn it in.

So there’s some sort of payout cap, and it’s really damned annoying. Combat payouts on NPC’s should be unrestricted, as this cap limits potential and decreases the effort applied at taking down the 492,000cr ship.
I guess you have an NPC crew? They take a cut of everything you earn.

Bounties do give you the advertised amount.
Nope, surprisingly I do not use crew at all and I used the in system Bounty seller, not the Interstellar Factor which also takes 25%.

I’ve tested and confirmed this with a few other commanders that noted this recently, there’s definitely a 350k cr cap.
I think I know ehat's happening here. When you scan a wanted npc with a kws, it will reveal multiple bounties for that target, even if the minor faction issuing one of those bounties is not present in that system.

I've noticed this as well, when I kill a target it says I get a payout of "this much", only to find out that that amount was actually split between two separate bounties for two separate minor factions, which might explain why after a long haz-rez session, you still have several unclaimed vouchers. Which is why IF factors are actually somewhat important outside of clearing legal issues.

I can certainly agree with higher payouts to come more in line with mining at this rate. My personal opinion is mining should still be the higher payout just because it's a borning af grind however I think for example, bounty hunting, the highest I see at a CNB is around 300k. As you pointed out you'll never accumulate the money for a FC for example at that rate. While I don't mind the grind I also want to do other things as well and it be meaningful or at least monetarily meaningful.

Thanks for the reply, it’s really bugging me. There are a few people testing this, to see if it’s related to something system specific for instance.

No KWS on the ship I used either, so that throws that out.
Literally I destroy the wanted ship in the Haz Res, first one and its a Conda, hence how I could see the descrepancy. So it pops up top right “Bounty of 492,900 awarded” I flip into contacts panel, then look under the ‘bounties’ tab and it’s showing 350,000 and that’s it...

Too late. So instead of attempting to put the cat back in the bag (mining), it makes sense to elevate the other aspects. Since that is there intent...although high payouts now are unavoidable because of mining. Just need to elevate.

As to any combat getting more challenging/AI I don't know about that. I am unsure what FDev can really do. Most games with PvE, players will outmatch the AI everytime. As the skill increases the challenge decreases. That's just the way it is in video games.

Huh, odd. Normally, not even 'condas pay out anywhere near 500k without a kws. Bug, maybe? 350k sounds about right without a scan, though.

I'm kinda far from any wanted npcs, so It'll be awhile before I can do any testing of my own.

Don't worry about it, there was never a balance, one role made always more money. In the beginning mining was only practiced by masochists.

Combat is trash in Elite and has been for a couple of years now.
Believe it or not, there's people that play this game that would rather shoot at other ships instead of fudging ROCKS! You can nerf mining in a couple of weeks but you can't increase the payouts of combat missions, bounties and bonds? This is bullspit! I'm so sick and tired of MINING!!!
There's more to shooting anything in this game. In fact, some things require you to never shoot or else it fails you

That is not the point. Game promises you to do what you want and get paid equally, but doesn't deliver as promised.
By initial idea (see video) shooting NPC pirates should be awarded the same as shooting asteroids or shooting space aka honking.
This is not the case hence OPs complain.

I dunno, it seems to be a pretty solid theme:

Combat: Shoot at ships.
Mining: Shoot at rocks.
Exploration: Shoot at planets (with probes).
SRV: Shoot at stuff to collect it.
Guardian interaction: Shoot at stuff (to charge it).
Thargoids: Shooting aplenty.

Come to think of it, we could probably sum up the game as, "Elite: Just shoot it." :p

So I guess passenger/tading missions never existed before, and never will because they aren't shooting. HUh

Well, you wish you could shoot your passengers after a few "I want item X nowh or I'll skweam" so its only trading left, and even that is trading guns or nerf bats.
I don't have those problems, because I pay attention and read before just licking "accept mission" blindly
