Allow Trading Between Material Types + other ideas

Yes!
Some materials, particularly manufactured, are just plain impossible to find for your average Joe (someone who isn't actively just searching for HGEs).

My main suggestion is we get a few traders around the bubble (and in colonia) that will allow you to trade any kind of micro material or data for another.
Exchange rates would be even worse than the "in house" traders we have, because they are more convenient.
That way, if RNGesus isn't pleased with your level of worship, you can just trade something you do have plenty of, for what you need, rather than beg for their forgiveness, and continue to rely on RNG. Lol

Other ideas to improve the drop rates of particularly difficult materials (Military Super Capacitors and Improvised Components), is have Spec Ops in conflict zones have a chance drop these on death.
They're quite difficult to kill, and it's even harder to scoop materials in an active CZ, so it's sort of self balancing, providing they don't drop them too regularly. It also adds incentives to kill them, other than BGS gain.

Blowing parts off capital ships could also spawn materials for collection, although they're quite a bit easier (oddly) so probably shouldn't spawn anything too valuable.

Or how about adding these to the pool of mission rewards?
Some missions (not all) could offer up to 3 different types of materials as a reward instead of money, cargo or rep/inf.
Instead you select from data, manufactured or elements.

Thoughts?

Clearly, the FIRST answer SHOULD HAVE been for some FDev Producer to realize -- "Holy crap, we really screwed the pooch on this revised HGE design and implementation! Next time, let's not do it while we're on psychedelics! And maybe we should involve someone who actually plays the game and spend at least six seconds thinking about the long term game play quality of our idea. But, for now, let's fix this goat rope, ASAP!"

Failing that, your proposed bandaids over this leprous, oozing, scabrous HGE implementation would make things a little less painful. I'd rather aim higher, but your approach -- have FDev fix a silly implementation with a painful "balancing" is probably more likely. :)

In the meantime, FDev should track every instance of MLOG'ing and consider it a professional indictment of their implementation.

Heh. Not hate. On the contrary. That level of deep indignation, profound disappointment, only manifests when something that you love performs far below expectations or potential. In so many of these cases, seemingly with all the foresight of a nine year old learning to play chess. Oooh, THAT looks like a good move...
