Hi Commanders,
I wanted to suggest adding customizable ambient cockpit lighting options in Elite Dangerous—not just for aesthetics, but for enhanced immersion. Being able to adjust subtle interior lighting colors (based on ship type or user preference) could elevate the mood during deep space exploration, mining, or long-haul missions.
It’s a small touch, but lighting can do wonders for atmosphere (pun intended). Imagine red hues during battle, soft blues while navigating the black, or warm amber tones while parked near a nebula. It could be linked to HUD profiles or applied via optional ship modules. Even a purely cosmetic module in Livery would be a great start.
This idea came to me while updating my real-life gaming setup—I've added a 3D optical illusion LED lamp for subtle ambient light during sessions, and the difference in immersion is surprising. If anyone's curious, I found it at OpticalLamp—it’s been great for the vibe without breaking the dark room feel.
