I wish any destruction was an easy way to get rid of a dormant bounty, instead of waiting for the timer.
Reading other threads, I found out that if you are scanned and subsequently destroyed, a dormant fine gets added to the re-buy cost. But only under certain conditions. According to what I read, you can:
1) Fly to a neighboring system to where the bounty is located.
2) Buy a sidewinder.
3) Return to the bounty system in the Sidewinder, and land on a station without getting scanned.
4) Leave the station, get scanned by an authority, and allow them to destroy you.
5) Your total re-buy cost will replace the Sidewinder and satisfy the bounty amount.
That's all well and good, but I have been putting around the system for two hours in a Sidewinder and no one has scanned me yet.
And to top it off, I was never an aggressor against anyone. I accidentally slam-dunked my type-7 into the ground, loosing my haulage. Now I'm wanted. If you are going to make the bounties so hard to shake, that they persist through death, I would think accidental suicide warrants a fine at best. (No, I did not let any such fine mature into a bounty.)
