An honest question about the two most popular space flight sims

Only one is an actual released game. I suspect ED will have already ran it's course by the time SC actually launches. If it ever launches. I suspect SC will end in lawsuits and not an actual complete stable release.

I can't wait until Star Citizen adds:
  • VR support
  • a fully-working flight model
  • server meshing (not 50-player capped servers)
  • player ship refueling
  • player ship repair
  • stable physics
  • faction warfare
  • faction reputation
  • a few dozen star systems to explore
  • aliens to battle/research/trade
  • aliens structures to explore
  • scientific mysteries
  • lore-filled wrecks and bases
  • dynamic economy
  • crafting
  • equipment modification
  • guild mechanics
  • functional tutorials
  • functional NPCs with AI
  • black holes
  • orbital mechanics
  • fleet carriers
  • sharable discoveries
  • and full MMO persistence.
But tbh I don't understand features/content development.

looks like you worked pretty hard to get that list together yet half of it isn't even in ed either, and most of the rest is anecdotal/filler implementation at best ...

that said, these really cracked me up: "vr, server-meshing, faction warfare, dynamic economy and orbital mechanics" :ROFLMAO:

Imho, some features are more equal than others, little things like stability and persistence...

As for "most popular", let's see the number for SW Squadrons compared to these two combined.

Right now in SC you get to fly all the great ships for free/rent to help them iron out the designs. What happens when the game drops and you have to go back to the starter ship you bought for like $50.

You go back to relying on folks like me to lend you all the nice(er) ships :D ...Or join an org, something like that.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Star Citizen 'dropping' any time soon, there'll be another ice age before that ;)

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Dont know how old that saying is but even our ancestors knew that something real was better than something not real. Who first wrote about the dog with a bone seeing his reflection in the river?

Don't get me wrong. I love ED and I think it's a great space sim but its only saving grace is the fact that SC will never see the light of day. If SC was released today, I foresee ED player base to shrink to a size of an English green pea
Thats getting a bit old now, about 5 years too old, wait until it comes out and then say it is going to kill ED, not sure why both cant coexist but hey ho.

but until then I'm calling it a Ponzi Scam.

A Ponzi Scheme uses new funds from investors to pay out 'interest' to old investors. Eventually it runs out of new investors. Some can go for months, some for years and some for decades even, depends how much money and greed the investors have.
A Fraud is a scheme designed to defraud, thats its intent.
A car crash is when someone thinks they can drive or tries to show off by doing too much and it all goes wrong. Once they lose control its almost impossible to regain it until its all over and the debris is everywhere. Then its about picking up the pieces. Letting the same driver back behind the wheel after they prang 4 parked cars probably means theres going to be a major crash down the line.

Really comparing ED and SC is like comparing apples and oranges.

Apples and Lemons.
